Chapter 5
Jenny's POV
When will we meet tomorrow?
And where?
I was now beyond happy, roaming around my walk-in closet when his message arrived. I couldn't wait to see him. I was really glad that he asked me for help but at this moment, I was having trouble, searching for what to wear tomorrow.
Argh! It is so frustrating.
I wanted to look at least good in front of him. Though, he already saw a lot of embarrassing moments of mine, I still wanted to leave good impression on him. I didn't want him to remember me as a clumsy girl.
Ring ... Ring ... Ring
Is he calling me?
Immediately, I ran towards my phone which was on the bed but ... to my disappointment, it wasn't him.
"Hello, Bri," I replied, heaving a little sign. He told me he will call later but apart from the messages, there was nothing from him. Did he forget about that?
"What the hell! Where are you right now?" Bri yelled so loudly that I had to remove the phone from my ear. What happened to her? Why was she so angry?
"I am at home. Why?"
My mind was completely back to reality. I had no idea why she was like this. I didn't think I did something to make her furious. She sounded really angry but at the same time ... worried? What is happening to her?
"At home?" she said while letting out a dry laugh, "Really?"
Seriously! Something was definitely wrong with her. Why was she mocking me like this?
"Yes." I confirmed her. I wanted to ask why she was acting like this so badly but I controlled myself. I was afraid it would provoke her anger more and she wouldn't call me for a month like she did in the past. She didn't come to my house or in front of me for a month that I had to chase after her and soothed her.
That time was totally my fault. I completely ignored her as I was so stressed out about what to draw for my college admission. I even locked myself in my room and drew until I finally finished with the painting. So, she was beyond angry that I wasn't there for her when she broke up with her very first love.
I just didn't know it would happen during that time. I didn't mean to ignore her but it happened and I had to follow her and console her for a whole week.
It was such a nightmare for me that I didn't even dare to do anything that would provoke her anger or ignore her again after this. I absolutely got my lesson from that.
"Then, why didn't you call me back? You abruptly hang up the phone and didn't answer me until now. What were you doing? Do you know how worried sick I am right now? I thought something bad had happened to you and I couldn't stay calm. But here you are, completely fine. You even sighed when I called you." she ranted continuously with her voice sounding like she was crying at this moment.
God! What am I supposed to do? My mind was full of thinking about meeting with Vincent that I totally forgot about her. She must have been really worried about me.
"Sorry, Bri. I am sorry," I replied quickly, "I am fine. Don't worry, Bri. Nothing happened."
I tried my best to assured her that I am alright and safe but that made her angry more I guessed.
"Nothing happened?" Bri shrieked, "No, you better give me a good reason for this. I couldn't even go to the blind date because of you. You better tell me what happened in DETAIL. Got it?"
Oh no! I got busted ... totally.
"Okay, okay! I will tell you. I am sorry."
"Then, shoot! What happened?"
Bri was no longer patient as she asked. I was sure she wouldn't let me off the hook until she was satisfied and heard all the event that happened to me today. I only hope this wouldn't take long and I could get some sleep.
Breathing in some air, I started to explain, "Well, I bumped into a guy when I was choosing the dresses you sent me on phone and spilled my hot chocolate on him. That's why I hanged up the call."
"That's all?" she said as soon as I stopped, "So, then, why didn't you call me back until now? You have many time for that. It had been four hours." and urged me to continue which I didn't want to.
"That is ... "I trailed. She would kill me for sure after I told the reason. I am certain, 100 percent certain, "I forgot to."
Now, I am going to die in her hands. Oh dear lord, please have mercy on me!
"What the hell, Jenny Rowen!" she exclaimed, "You made me worried for the whole evening for nothing. I am not gonna forgive you for this. I am really angry at you right now."
It was obvious that she is, judging from her voice. She wouldn't go easy on me if I told the reason and at this moment, I only wondered how many days it would take to soothe her this time. I just couldn't stay still and watch her angry at me. After all, she was the only friend I had in my life.
"I am sorry. Please? I swear this will be the last time, okay?"
I tried to lower my voice as possible as I could to sound it pitiful. She usually went soft on me whenever I acted like this. She couldn't help seeing me looking sad and down. It was the only weak spot she had for me.
"No!"
With that one word, she answered firmly. She didn't sound like she is going to forgive me today. Her voice didn't even seem to have an ounce for that. Should I go to her house right now?
"Please? Bri? Please ... I know you are angry. I promise this is the last time. I won't do that again. I am sorry. Please forgive me, okay? Bri? My pretty gorgeous Bri?"
I tired another attempt and begged her forgiveness. If she wasn't going to forgive this time, I would just go to her and clung onto her and soothed her until she does.
"Argh! There won't be next time. Got it?"
Finally, she gave in. Though her answer was a bit reluctant, I was glad that she had forgiven me for now. If not, I was sure I couldn't sleep well tonight. It would be disturbing my mind.
Smiling widely, I replied quickly, "I promise."
"So, what are you doing now?"
"I ..." I stalled. The real problem had started. She wouldn't allow me to go and meet Vincent alone if she knew this. I am pretty sure but I also didn't know what to say. She would find out anyways even if I didn't mess up. I am extremely bad at lying and she always caught me when I do that. So, the best was the truth. I hoped she would take it easy and let me go.
"I am searching for what to wear tomorrow."
There was a pause before she retorted back, "Why? Where are you going tomorrow?"
I knew she was confused right now. I was literally free from anything these days and she was buzzing me to go shopping with her but I refused. I wanted to chill at home, drawing and reading some books that I hadn't touched yet since I bought.
"It is ... Vincent. I am going to meet him tomorrow."
My excitement rose more as I said to her. The nervousness I had before was totally vanished into the air. I was looking forward to meeting with him and so, I was afraid Bri would against it. I didn't want to do something she didn't agree. I didn't know why. I just didn't want to and I had never done such thing.
"Vincent? Who? ... Wait a minute! Isn't he that guy who helped you at the club?" She asked but she quickly answered her question after a few seconds. I didn't even need to recall for her.
"Yes, I bumped into him today."
I guessed I had made the right choice after all. Her voice wasn't as firm as before. She sounded like she had calmed down as she chuckled continuously while at the same time, replying me, "Seriously? So, it was him who you bumped and spilled your drink today? Unbelievable!"
She didn't stop giggling even after she completed her words and I laughed with her, not knowing what to do, "It is but it is true."
"And?"
I was starting to get a hunch that I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. She couldn't stop asking me and I was here telling today's event like a story.
"And he asked me to help him find good places for shooting photos."
"He is a photographer?"
"Yes, he is."
It was such a surprise that he is a photographer. I still couldn't believe he is. He didn't look like one of them. He seemed more of a business man with his silhouette looking sharp and serious all the time.
"So, you are going to be his tour guide?"
"Yes!" I exclaimed cheerfully. Like always, she had guessed it correctly. I didn't even need to say the whole thing. She has been like that ever since I knew her. She was like she had transparent eyes or something that she could tell everything that was on my mind without a mistake.
"Woah! I didn't see that coming. Totally unexpected."
You are not the only one, Bri!
"Yeah, I didn't see that too. I didn't think he would ask me."
It was truth. Never in my mind, had I thought about him asking me for a help.
"But he did. Wait, wait, wait! How are you going to meet him with 'your bodyguards'? Did you forget about them? They are with you almost every time. What are you going to do?" she said, her laughter died down at once.
"That ..." I trailed, "I am still thinking. I didn't know what to do with them. Maybe just told them to wait for me in the car?"
I had planned to go to the park I had been to every time I went for painting tomorrow and made them wait for me inside the car like usual. My brain couldn't muster out another way except for this.
"Are you kidding me?" she screamed, "You didn't even do that when we date. So, why now? Just take them along with you."
God! I messed up again. Her voice was no longer in chill mode.
"But it is -"
I tried to reason but she quickly cut me off, "But? What! What are you trying to say, Jenny Rowen? Forget about it! I will just help you, you troublemaker."
"It is okay, Bri. I didn't want to trouble you."
I really mean that. She always helped me whenever I am in need. So this time, I wanted to solve it alone. I didn't want to burden her. She already did a lot for me.
"Hey! I am saying I will help you, okay? Just accept it and introduce me to him too, got it?"
Like that, she said in the authoritative tone that I had no words to retort except, "Why?"
"Why? Because I am afraid you would get played or lied. You don't know people, Jenny."
She was right. I didn't know but I also didn't think he was someone like she said, "He is a good person."
"I don't believe. Just show me and introduce him. I will decide that myself."
I was sure she was rolling her eyes at me now as I was defending for him. Argh! Why can't I just shut up and follow her orders like always? Everything would have been so easy if I do that.
"Okay."
"Then, tell me where are you two gonna meet?"
Smiling a little, I replied, "I am planning to meet him at Kolomenskoye Park."
It was so strange. Even a mere thought of meeting with him made me so excited and happy. I wondered how I would be feeling tomorrow.
"I see. I will come to your house tomorrow. Let's go together."
"Okay"
......
Next Morning
Where is Bri?
I was now pacing back and forth in front of her house with my car parked beside me. I was ready to go but she wasn't. She was nowhere to be found and moreover, I couldn't reach her phone. What was she doing?
I wanted to ring the doorbell and called her so badly but at the same time, I didn't want to do that. I didn't want to look desperate and excited though it was true. She wouldn't stop mocking me if I acted like that or if unfortunate, she could have angry at me.
Argh! What am I supposed to do? I am going to be late.
"Oh! You are already here?" she said, stepping out of the house. She looked really chill and relaxed as she walked towards me where I was the exact opposite of her, nervous and impatient.
"What were you doing? I have been calling your phone."
"Really?" she asked, raising one of her beautiful drawn brows, "Ah, I forgot to turn off the silent mode yesterday, sorry."
Her voice was voided of sorrow when she said and walked pass me. I didn't know what was happening here. I felt as if she was mocking me. Is she still angry about yesterday incident?
"Aren't we going?"
"We are," I replied abruptly while shaking my head a little and sighed. I didn't win against her after all. Her face said it all that she was still holding grudge against me. I should better stay with her tonight.
"So, has he arrive?"
Her sudden question made me startled as I was lost in my own thoughts.
"I don't know," I answered and stumbled my phone out from the purse, "He hasn't sent me a message or call since last night after I messaged him place and time," and showed her the phone.
Ding
"He just sent you, where are you?"
I immediately faced the screen and read it. I couldn't believe in a very short time I was going to meet him. What should I send him back?
I am on the way
No ... That would look I would take a long time to reach.
Okay, I am coming.
No, no, no ... That would look like I was still at home and still preparing to go.
Argh! What do I do?
I started to have trouble concerning about this matter. I had never been this troubled when sending messages but now, I was doomed. I couldn't think of good response. God! My brain had become dull, hadn't I?
I tried to think about more but before that, Bri snatched the phone and type something in my stead, "That's it! We are here. Let's go now!"
My cheeks instantly burned at her words. I didn't realized that we had already arrived. Oh god! I need to calm myself. I need to compose and pull myself together. I shouldn't embarrass myself in front of him for next time. I already did that enough.
Stepping out of the car, I looked up at the beautiful white buildings.

Finally!
I am going to meet him.
