Chapter 2

Jenny’s POV

My world had stopped.

I couldn’t feel anyone or anything beside me except those eyes, those dazzling blue eyes.

They were staring at me and into my eyes straight that my heart started to race. I didn’t know what was happening to me right now. My heart seemed uncontrollable, beating so fast like a wild horse.

Ba-Dum … Ba-Dum … Ba-Dum

“Jen? Jenny? Hey? Hello? Wake up!”

Bri’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts that it brought me back to the reality. She was observing me closely with a mischievous grin on her face. I was in daze, looking at her and those eyes back and forth.

“He is hot, right?” she asked, nudging me a little. I glanced at her. I didn’t know how to answer this. The moment I turned to his direction, I was attracted by his eyes so much that I forgot his whole face. I only remembered how his eyes look like and how beautiful they were, “I think so?”

“What is with the answer?” she frowned, “I thought you fell for him as you were staring at him for too long. You didn’t even hear me calling you."

She did? Oh god! It was so embarrassing. I wished the ground would swallow me now. “It was probably because of the music. It is too loud, isn’t it?”

I tried to retort and reason but I knew it wouldn’t work. Bri only believed what she sees and feels and moreover, her sixth sense was really good. It was like a ghost. She can sense everything what was on people’s mind especially me. She saw through me every time.

“Whatever! So, how is he? What do you think? Is he handsome, right?”

She continued asking me about him and I was like running away from her as fast as possible or crawl into the tiny hole. This conversation was making me uncomfortable, to be exact my heart. It didn’t seem to calm down. The more I heard about him, the more it beat faster and wilder.

I wanted to stop this. It was the first time I was feeling like this and I didn’t seem to like it. Although I had seen and viewed many different beautiful things, my heart never acted this way before. It was uncomfortable and so exhausting that I felt like working for the whole day without a rest.

“He is. Bri, can I go to the toilet? I think I drank too much.” I asked, changing the topic. It wasn’t a complete lie as I was wanting to go. I wanted to breathe some air and refresh myself.

“Okay, let’s go. I will show you the way.”

Bri then asked one of the bartenders the bill for our drink and I waited for her. My heart was still unsteady, thinking about him. What would he look like in full face? I was sure he would be handsome because of his eyes.

My mind was telling me to sneak at him a little but I was firmed on not doing that. It was embarrassing and I didn’t want to get caught by the other but it was too late. I was already staring at him subconsciously.

He was no longer watching at me and sipping his drink. I tried to take my eyes off him but I couldn’t. He was attracting me like a magnet.

Apart from his beautiful eyes, his other facial features were pretty too. His nose and jawline were too sharp and prominent, framing his face in the perfect position and making him look masculine but at the same time charming.

Why did he look so flawless in any angle? There wasn’t anything I could say ugly in his face. His face screamed perfection and handsomeness.

I viewed him carefully and slowly. The light here wasn’t that dim and he wasn’t too far away from us. So, I could see him clearly. I didn’t care about getting caught or others anymore. All I want to do at this moment was to observe his gorgeous face.

He didn’t seem to notice me as he continued sipping his whiskey and scrolling his phone screen. I kept watching him and every of his movement. He didn’t show much of the emotion on his face but there was one time when he smiled a little for a few seconds and my heart went crazy.

God! How could he make my heart beat like that? It was so weird.

“Let’s go, Jen.”

Bri’s voice again cut me out of my thought that I startled a little, “Oh! Okay.”

We then made our way to the restroom. There were a lot of people inside and Bri decided to stay behind and wait for me at the entrance. I didn’t waste any time and finished my business quickly.

Most of the people inside didn’t look like us or some other people as they were wearing some kind of costume that were too tight, too revealing and too sexy. Some even looked like underwear and I wondered if they didn’t feel cold or not.

Argh! What am I thinking?

My mind and thoughts had become weirder since I entered this place and it was really bad. I didn’t feel like myself anymore. Like I thought, I shouldn’t have come here. I should leave as soon as possible.

I rushed out quickly to get Bri and go back home but to my disappointment, she was nowhere to be found. Where did she disappear to?

A loud music was blaring through my ears even though I was at least ten feet away from the club and it was giving me headache. I didn’t feel good. I felt like vomiting and at the same time, dizzy. I needed to breathe some fresh air.

Bri, where are you?

I tried calling her phone but every calls went directly to the voicemail. I couldn’t reach her. In addition, I didn’t know the way to the exit and I was like a mouse that was lost in the maze. So, I decided to walk around a little and search for her as well as the way out.

The lights here were too dim and I couldn’t see the surrounding clearly. Moreover my condition wasn’t well enough to do that. I was afraid I might knock someone down and I chose to walk by the wall and with the slow steps.

Sometimes, other people bumped into me as they were walking unsteadily like drunkards and I ended up pushing them back and ran away at my best. I didn’t want to interact with them. It will be dangerous for me.

“Hey beautiful, where are you going?” said a man with thick Russian accent, who was taller and bigger than me appeared in front and completely blocked my way. I was instantly alarmed. All of my senses had awakened at the sight of him and the smell of alcohol. I didn’t know where he popped out from as I was busy calling Bri like nonstop.

“I am searching for my friend. Could you excuse me? Thank you,” I tried my best to stay calm and replied politely. I didn’t want to irritate him. His face was too flushed and also his breath, it stink. It reeked of alcohol and every time he exhaled, my nausea became worse. It was making me vomit for real.

I didn’t wait for his reply and quickly walked pass him, thinking it would free me but I was wrong. He grabbed my arm hurriedly with a force that I couldn’t detach myself from it. He was too strong.

“You are not going anywhere. You are going to accompany me in my bed.”

I was doomed, seriously doomed. I didn’t know what to do now. My body froze at his words. It was my first time someone attacking me like this and I didn’t know how to handle it or solve.

I need to find Bri. I need to escape. It is so scary.

“Shameless!”

A calm yet thunderous voice came into my ears as I trembled from the fear of that man getting close to me. We were right now at the middle of a hall that had no one except three of us around. I didn’t know where it is but I could say this area is the least populated among the others and it looked kind of creepy too.

I glanced at the direction where that calming voice appeared. His voice sounded dangerous but for me, it was like the soft music which eased my fears away. I felt safe hearing it. Who is it? Is he helping me? 

“What did you say?”

That disgusting old man said, glaring at him. I tried to see who it was but it was so dark where he was standing. I could barely see him. I just hoped he would help me get rid of this old drunkard.

“Forcing a girl who is weak and unwilling to you is not a thing a man should do, even if they are drunk. If they do, they are no better than the trash.”

Every of his words calmed me down but not for that man. His breathing became faster and sharper as he seemed more irritated after hearing them, “Fuck you, asshole. Get lost! It is none of your business.”

I didn’t know should I thank the man in the dark or curse him. The old man was no longer in the steady state and he continued his way back to me with his look scarier than before.

Lord! Someone help me!

Fears again rose inside me while my body continued to freeze like the same. My legs wouldn’t move no matter how I wanted to run away from this. He was coming closer and I was here like a statue, not moving even for an inch.

Suddenly, he was thrown aside in front of me and ended up lying on the floor with his chest facing it.

“It is you that need to get lost.”

The man in the dark was now in front of me, replacing that old man and looking down at him. I was on the verge of fainting as I hugged myself tightly. My vision started more blurry and I couldn’t see the situations clearly. Dizziness was killing me for real and I seriously wanted to breathe some fresh air.

That old man scared me to death just now and all I wanted to do was to leave this place as soon as possible and sleep the night away. Moreover, it felt so suffocating here and I didn’t think I could stay awake if I had to hang around for longer.

“Son of the bitch!”

Finally, he walked away after cursing my savior loudly.

Phew! He is gone.

My legs instantly weakened and I crouched down on the floor. I couldn’t stand anymore. It felt so tiring to do.

“Are you alright?”

He also crouched down to my level and covered my back with his coat. I was at this moment like a numb. I couldn’t move or talk either. So, I nodded, assuring him that I am fine.

“Let’s leave here first.”

I didn’t know where he was going to take me to. I didn’t even know whether he is good or bad guy but I followed him. My instinct told me that he wasn’t bad judging from the words he said back there and I could trust him. Also, there was something with him that made me feel safe and secure like I felt with my dad when he is around. Who is he exactly?

Although my eyesight wasn’t good enough to view things clearly, I glanced at him. I wanted to know who. My curiosity was rising with the time and I couldn’t wait until I get better.

His two strong arms were supporting me as we stepped out of that dark and dangerous place. I was still nauseous and dizzy. I couldn’t walk properly but with him holding me firmly beside, I was able to do so without a fall. He carefully took me to a place which was so bright that I wobbled with both of my eyes went shut immediately.

“Hey, are you okay? Wait here, I will find you some water.” He gently put me down on a soft mattress that seemed to be sofa and left. I didn’t know where I was right now. My head felt like it was going to explode anytime.

Argh! What a worse feeling!

I slowly stroked my temples in the circular motion, attempting to ease the pain I was feeling. There wasn’t many people around as I looked around after recovering from the sudden light attack. This place was big and also quiet comparing to that nightclub we left. It was much better. The suffocation I felt back there was completely healed since I rested here for a while. My headache also seemed to start reducing as I caressed the temples with my eyes close.

“Have you calm down? Here is the water. Are you alright?”

A voice that was the same as my savior appeared in front of me that I opened my eyes as quickly as ever. I couldn’t wait to find out who he was.

With one of his knees bent, he lowered himself below my eye level, “Are you okay?”

Whaaaaaaat!

My body went stiffened as soon as I saw his face. It was him, the one with the perfect and gorgeous face. He saved me.

I was tongue tied. I couldn’t believe it was him. He helped me out of all those people in the club and it was like those cliché scene in the romantic novels where the protagonist was saved by a handsome male lead. Oh Lord! I never imagined it would actually happen to me someday. This was such a surprise.

I should say something back to him like thanking but I couldn’t. His flawless face was again hypnotizing me as I stared at him. My eyes couldn’t even blink. He looked more handsome now that there was brighter light and also, I had the closer view of him.

“Miss, are you okay?”

He repeated his question and at the same time, he grabbed both of my arms and shook me a little.

“Yes, I am. I am fine. I am okay.” I jabbered, shifting my gaze away from him. It was such an embarrassing thing to do and I felt like hiding and running away from him as far as possible. I didn’t even know him and yet, I was ogling at him too much.

God! What was happening to me? I seemed to lose control of myself after going inside that club. No way! I needed to stay alert. I didn’t want to embarrass myself anymore.

“Good, do you want some water?”

Handing me a bottle of water, he stood up suddenly but it was just to settle himself beside me. I was startled for a moment. His body came closer when he rose up in front of me but I didn’t know what he was going to do. So, I stayed still though my heart was beating crazily inside my ribcage. I guessed his knee were hurt from crouching down for a long time.

“It is okay,” I said, lowering my head a little, “Thank you, sir. You really helped me back there. If you didn’t, I don’t know what he would do to me. I don’t even dare to imagine what would happen. You saved me, sir. Thank you so much.”

It was truth. I sincerely thanked him for saving me. I was so afraid that the old man would sexually harass me as I couldn’t fight him back and escape. I was no match for him.

He was stronger than me but this handsome guy came here and saved me. If he didn’t or wasn’t there at that time, I was sure I would no longer be pure by now. I might have lost my virginity.

“No need to thank me that much! It is an honor for me too, to save such a beautiful damsel in distress like you. I am more than willing to help you anytime.” He replied, smiling a little. It was such a beautiful scenario that I couldn’t help staring at him again for God know how many times it had already been. He was seriously attractive. I could stare at his face for the whole day without doing anything. His face was such a masterpiece.

“But, I really thank you for that, sir. I mean it.”

Although it was nothing for him and he helped me out of whim, it mean a lot to me. I would never forget about this in my entire life. I would always be grateful for it.

“Okay, I will accept your gratitude but in one condition,” he finally agreed after a few seconds of thinking. My mind was instantly delighted. I was so happy that he accepted. I still didn’t know what his condition is but I would do everything he ask for as long as it was within my capability, “Which is?”

“Vincent!” he blurted out of nowhere that confused my thoughts. I was thinking that he would ask me out for a lunch or dinner or something like that but this made me perplexed.

“Pardon me?”

A giggle escaped from his lips before he started explaining what he mean to me, “I want you to call me by my name, not sir. I felt old hearing that. My name is Vincent. So, call me by my name.”

Nodding my head a little, “I see, then thank you for your help, Vincent,” I answered while smiling brightly at him. Never in my mind had I imagined, he would ask me that. It was such an easy favor that I would do if I knew his name. He didn’t even need to ask me for that. Lord! He is indeed like an angel, isn’t he?

“You’re welcome, miss …,” he trailed, waiting for me to continue.

“Jenny!” I beamed, “My name is Jenny Rowen. You can call me Jenny or Jen.”

“Okay … Then, Jenny. It was nice to meet you.”

The way he pronounce my name was like the others, simple but my heart skipped a beat listening to it. I didn’t know why I felt like that. In my ears, his voice calling my name was so fascinating that made me startled and excited.

“Me too, Vincent. It was nice meeting you, my savior.”

Yes, it is good meeting you and I wish I could see you again in the future.
