The beginning of the journey

The morning began, I remember this day as if it was only yesterday. I woke up to the warm rays of the sun shining in my face through the window.

As always, my parents went to work early in the morning at the bazaar where they sold vegetables and fruits, and I, as the oldest among my brothers and sisters, while my parents were not at home, was engaged in cleaning and cooking. We have a rather large family, I have three brothers and two sisters. It was difficult for my parents to feed us all and we lived quite poorly.

That day I noticed that we had nothing to cook with, so I went to the bazaar and left the house to my sister Hana, who was only a year younger than me and I was 16 years old. She was quite responsible, so I could trust her with a lot of things.

That day, when I went to the bazaar, I accidentally overheard the conversation of two women who were talking about the fact that a large part of the samurai were brutally killed for loyalty. It was pretty serious, but somehow I didn't think much of it, because it could only be fetuses, so I went about my business as if I hadn't heard anything. I remember how I bought rice at a good price and was glad that I would surprise my brothers, sisters and parents with a delicious dinner.

Behind me, I saw a tall samurai man who took me firmly by the hand and led me to a cart where there was a small group of people who were also the inhabitants of our village.

I was very sorry for my brothers, sisters and parents.

This thought could not leave me.

The road was quite long. I had no idea where we were going. On the way, I even fell asleep and woke up from a nightmare just as we reached our destination. We arrived at the royal court. I had no idea what I was doing here.
