The encounter with Mrs. Tanaka left Hana shaken.
The old woman's concerned gaze and her cryptic warning sent shivers down Hana's spine.

Hana's curiosity, once a flickering flame, now burned brightly.

Mrs. Tanaka hesitated, her eyes flickering.

𝘽𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙤𝙛 𝙞𝙩, 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙. 𝙊𝙡𝙙 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙡𝙚𝙛𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙤𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣.
She leaned closer, her voice dropping to a whisper.

𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙨𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙨.

𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙡𝙚𝙛𝙩 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙗𝙚𝙙.
With that ominous warning, Mrs. Tanaka shuffled back to her house, leaving Hana on the porch with a head full of questions and a gnawing sense of unease.
The next morning, Hana woke up with a heavy feeling in her chest.
The events of the previous night, the whispers, and Mrs. Tanaka's cryptic words all played on her mind.
Deciding to distract herself, she decided to explore the village itself.
Hinamizawa was a small place, but it had a certain charm.
The traditional wooden houses were well-maintained, and colorful flowers bloomed in window boxes.
As Hana walked, she greeted the villagers she encountered. While friendly, they were reserved, their smiles not quite reaching their eyes.
Suddenly, a voice interrupted her thoughts..

𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙢𝙚, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙜𝙞𝙧𝙡, 𝙃𝙖𝙣𝙖?
Hana turned to see a young man standing before her.
He was tall and slender, with a kind smile and warm brown eyes.
Hana was surprised by the unexpected encounter.
He said, extending a hand.

𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙃𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙬𝙖. 𝙄 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙮𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙖 𝙛𝙚𝙬 𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙨 𝙖𝙜𝙤.
Hana shook his hand, surprised.

Hana was hesitant. The villagers' warnings about the forest were still fresh in her mind.
But Takeshi's friendly demeanor was disarming.

Hana considered it. The mill sounded far less dangerous than the abandoned shrine. Besides, having company might help calm her nerves.
Hana agreed, a nervous smile playing on her lips.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺. 𝘚𝘦𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯, 𝘛𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴𝘩𝘪.
As Takeshi walked away, a new sense of curiosity bubbled within Hana.
Perhaps, she thought, Hinamizawa wasn't so bad after all. There were friendly people here, and maybe, just maybe, there were ways to explore the village's secrets without venturing into the heart of the forbidden forest.
Little did she know, Takeshi's arrival would set in motion a chain of events that would push her deeper into the mysteries of Hinamizawa than she ever imagined.
