Akito's pov:
"Akito, please just wait a minute!!" Yumeko shouts from behind me.
I stop quite a distance away from her, giving her the opportunity to speak.
"What? What do you wanna tell me happened that I didn't already see?!"
At this point, I can already feel my anger turn into tears forming in my eyes.
"It's not what you think, we were just -"
"Just what?! Making out while I wasn't there? You sent me to go and get your bag so you two could have alone time for you to cheat on me?!" I raged, feeling every last bit of my body tense up.
"Akito, it was just a mistake. Calm down." She nonchalantly says.
"A mistake?! A freakin mistake?!! You told me he was your cousin! But clearly that wasn't true! You wouldn't have had your tounge down his throat if he was!"
She shrugs her shoulders. "Okay, fine. I lied about Kenji being my cousin. But it's only because I didn't want you to keep breathing down my neck everytime something came up with him. But I mean that's no big deal."
"The hell are you talking about?! You're cheating on me and you say it's not a big deal?!" My voice roaring with anger.
"You're being paranoid. Your jealousy and possessiveness is suffocating me." She says, her voice shaking.
"I'm not freakin being paranoid, Yumeko! I saw what I saw damnit!"
"Why do you always have to accuse me of things I didn't even do?! Your problem is, you don't trust me. You've never trusted me with anything. Maybe that's the main problem in our relationship!" She shouts, taking a step closer.
"When have I not trusted you?! Everything you ever told me, I took your word for it, and look where that got me!"
With all the commossion going on between me and Yumeko, Kenji finally decides to show himself as he walks out of the class and stands next to Yumeko.
"I think you should calm down, Yume. Don't get so worked up." He says calmly.
Yumeko smiles and swings her hair back. "I think it's time we took a break, Akito. Clearly you don't care enough about me to consider my feelings in all this and you really have to work your trust issues."
"I don't care about you?! You have no idea what today even is and here you are telling me I'm the one who doesn't care!" You wanna break up with me because I caught you cheating!"
"I didn't cheat, Akito! And it's not like there was anything special about today. It's not like today's your birthday or anything. Don't try to manipulate me into feeling guilty for what you're doing!" She crosses her arms and shits her balance to her other leg.
"Ha, you're unbelievable. I can't believe I didn't see this coming."
"Akito, maybe you shoul-" Kenji intervenes but I cut him off, my rage getting the better of me
"You need to keep your damn mouth shut, bastard! This whole damn thing is your fault!"
"Excuse me? Are you talking to me like that?! You damn brat, I'll end yo-"
"Calm down, Kenji. He's not worth getting so worked up over." She turns her attention to me. "Akito-"
"No, you shut up too, Yumeko! Both of you are in on this together! You two think I'm nothing but your damn fool! I thought we had something real, but I was just a joke to you from the start!" My voice cracking in between my words with tears filling the corner of my eyes.
"That's not fair, you know I love you, Akito."
I feel a bitter laugh coming up my throat.
"Yeah right. If you loved me we wouldn't be in this situation right now, would we?! You know what, I'm done! I can't stand this shit anymore!" I throw the box with the bracelet to the ground and turn and walk away. "Happy seven month anniversary."
I didn't even care whether or not she looked at the bracelet or even picked it up.
All I could focus on was not completely losing my temper and doing something I know I'd regret. And that bastard Kenji would be the victim.
The following week at school, while I'm sitting staring out the window, Touka comes running into my class and slams her hands on my table.
"We need to talk." She demands.
We step outside the class and her expression goes from tense to soft in a matter of seconds.
"Aki I-"
"You don't have to yell at me. I know I broke the promise I made to you."
"I'm not gonna yell at you, Aki. I wanted to apologize for what happened." She says, her voice filled with emotion.
"Why are you apologising? It's not like you did anything wrong." I say, leaning against the wall.
"Minami told me about what happened and what she did to you. I honestly have no words to express how torn I am."
"You don't have to. It's okay. Honestly, I thought Yumeko was gonna be the first to call you and tell you about what a horrible person I am."
"She did call. But all she said was that you two broke up without giving me a reason why. And when I couldn't get hold of you, I asked Minami. He told me everything you told him."
"And you just believed him without question?" I ask her, a bit skeptical.
"Well, it's not exactly like you'd lie about something like that, right?"
"Now you asking me whether it's true or not?"
"Well is it?"
"I didn't lie about anything I told Minami. Nor did I exaggerate." I state.
"I'll talk to her and try to-"
"If you're planning on trying to fix things between us, don't waste your time." I sigh.
There's no way after what happened am I ever gonna be stupid enough to fall for the same thing twice.
"Right, I won't get involved then." She says, her voice just above a whisper.
"Thanks, Touka. I appreciate you checking up on me and all, but I'll be fine. It's not exactly the end of the world now is it." I say, scratching the back of my neck.
Well, Touka coming to see me was a total surprise.
And for her to actually be so sincere.
She mentioned she tried to get a hold of me, but she didn't try calling or anything.
Either way, it doesn't matter.
Things happened and things ended.
Life goes on.
Doesn't matter what your situation is, things just keep moving.
"Yo, Akito!"
That voice...
"The hell do you want from me, Kenji?" I ask him, trying not to get upset.
"You know, I didn't like the way you spoke to me in the hallway last week. You were mad disrespectful and I don't appreciate that, man." He says, walking up to me with his hands in his pocket.
"Yeah, so what? You want an apology or something?"
"It would be really nice if you could apologize. You see, I don't take well to such disrespect. However if you apologize like you suggested, I'll see it as water under the bridge and things can go back to normal." He implies, smirking at me.
"I'm... I'm... Yeah just the thought of me apologizing to your sorry ass makes me sick. But, if you're so eager for an apology, you can go back and dig one up from Yumeko's throat. Hopefully you'll find the dignity you lost somewhere down there too." I say, my voice calm and detached.
His face turns red and I could practically see the fumes coming from his head. "You're real cocky, aren't you?! I'll be sure to shut that awful mouth of yours for good, bastard!" He tries to say nonchalantly, but his voice can't hide his anger.
I roll my eyes and walk past him."Hmm. Well, thanks for wasting my time, Kenji. That's five minutes I won't ever get back anymore. Also, it's pathetic how you're trying so hard to get a reaction out of me. Are you really that bored with your life?"
He lets out a laugh and pulls me by my shoulder. "Let's see just how good you are at backing up those words of yours."
"Don't touch me." My voice a bit sinister.
He let's go and takes a step back."What, you scared your fragile little self will break?"
"No, I just don't want your filthy hands anywhere near me. I'd hate to contract whatever you might have that causes this behaviour." I glare at him just before walking away.
"The next time I run into you, I'll be sure to shut you up for good, you loser! I'll wipe the floor with that damn mop you have on your head!" He shouts, but I just ignore him and continue walking.
I get to our next class and out of nowhere, Yumeko walks up to my desk at the back by the window and just stands there, even though im clearly ignoring her.
"Hey, I'm talking to you." She says with an attitude.
"Who, me?" I sarcastically ask her.
"I don't see anyone else here."
"Just speak and get this over with." I raise my head to look at her.
"I just have one question for you."
"Oh yeah, what?"
"Are you looking to end up in hospital or hurt?" She asks me, crossing her arms.
"What makes you think I am?" I lean back a bit.
"You're trying to piss off Kenji and it's not going to end very well for you. Kenji's an athlete and will seriously hurt you if you continue to disrespect him like that." She implies, taking a step closer.
"Oh, well I didn't know..."
"Yeah well, just stop for your own sake." She says with false concern.
"No, I meant I didn't know he ran to go and complain to you. He's more pathetic than I thought. And so are you for actually thinking you'd get through to me by pretending that you care." I sigh, getting out of my seat and heading to the door.
"Wha- maybe you should get your head banged in. Maybe then you'll actually learn to be less disrespectful, you jerk!!" Her voice rises as I keep getting further away.
Damnit!
I guess I'm not fully over her after all.
I actually feel baf for talking to her like that.
And hearing her defend Kenji like that actually hurts more than I thought it would.
"Akito, a teacher's calling for you in the faculty office." A girls says to me. Seems like she's in a hurry.
"Okay, thanks for letting me know."
I make my over to the faculty office and fine Ms Haruka waiting for me at her desk.
"Ashida. Glad you could make it." She happily says.
"Yes ma'am. Is something wrong?" I ask her, a bit nervous.
"No, nothing's wrong. I just wanted to ask you for a favour." She says putting all her documents into a file.
"Uhh, sure. What's up?"
"Could you please just run to my car and grab me the box in the passenger seat. There are a few test papers that I forgot to bring with me."
"Sure."
"Thanks, I'll see you in class then. And be quick, I have an announcement to make." She says as she hands me her car keys.
Alright, a blue Sadan is what I'm looking for. Ah, found it.
I opem the car and grab the box, but something or well, someone catches my eye.
It's a student, but I've never seen her around here before.
Is she a first year? No, can't be. She looks around my age.
She's probably the type to stay in class all the time.
She dissapears into the building but by the time I get there, she's gone.
Was she a figment of my hallucination?
Man, I've really gotta get my head out of the gutters.
I get to class and place the box on the table next to the teacher.
"Thanks, you may take your seat."
I sit down and Ms Haruka makes an announcement.
"Good morning everyone. I know that you're all supposed to be having your Japanese history class right now, but I have an announcement to make before the day continues. We have a new student joining us today coming all the way from New York. So I'd really appreciate it of we could give her a warm welcome as a class."
A transfer? Wow, not what I expected. Our class is pretty packed already.
"Come on in and introduce yourself!" She shouts.
The girl steps into the classroom and immediately catches everyone's attention.
More especially the guys.
She has piercing green eyes, beautiful long curly dark hair and a confident yet shy smile.
Wait...
It's the girl I saw when I came from the parking lot.
She's a transfer which would explain why I haven't seen her before.
"Good morning everyone. My name's Amaya Solace and I'm a transfer student from New York. I look forward to growing with everyone as a class."
She nervously scans the class and eventually, we lock eye.
A slight blush creeps onto her face but she instantly hides it by looking away.
"Take a seat Amaya. There's an empty desk right at the back next to Ashida."
She slowly walks over, everyone's eyes fixed on her, and as soon as she passes by me, her cheeks turn slightly red again.
I wonder what's up with that.
She takes her seat and turns to face me.
"Morning. It's nice to meet you." she happily greets.
"Yeah, morning. It's nice to meet you too. I'm Akito Ashida."
"Akito. Got it." she says and turns around again.
Weird. Maybe she's just a bit nervous.
I mean she is in a new environment.
Hopefully everyone makes school fun for her here.
Then again, I don't think anyone's going to be giving her a hard time.
