Chapter 2

She entered her house and remembered the time she had bought it. She was not expecting to snatch such a deal for herself. She had pinched herself pretty bad as she couldn't believe her eyes. She had decided then and there that this would be her heaven. She had quickly paid the rent and successfully claimed the little place for herself. Since then she had loved her little apartment.

She treated herself to some hot chocolate as she made her to the bathroom. She had about two more hours she could spare before she had to reach her office. And then there was the big meeting. It is dubbed as 'Grote bijeenkomst' meaning 'The big meeting' in dutch since it is as important and difficult as it sounds and it is literally a meeting of the higher ups and the interns. Or she had heard because it was her first time. It is the main selection day. All the interns are evaluated on the work they had done during their time in the company and the higher ups decide on who to select and why. Sometimes even the President himself comes for the selection. So it was a huge thing in the company therefore the name 'Grote bijeenkomst'. Speaking of the President, he was a bit strange. He was like a hyperactive kid with lots of strange ideas. Each day he goes with themes. One day it was China and Gods, it was SO funny. He had worn the traditional Chinese costume and forced many people to do the same. The worst part was when the entire menu of the day was turned to Chinese food. He forced all the employees to eat some delicacy which she honestly believed was some kind of worm or something. It was disgusting to the workers and funny to the outsiders. Another day he had gone with the Paris theme. It was simply wonderful. He had organised a party and everyone was provided with clothes from the costume department and she almost believed that she was transported to the magical world of Paris. How the President does all of that is still a mystery to all the employees. Overall it was one of the best place a person could ever ask to work for. Everyday was fun at that office. So she had worked hard during the internship and fervently prayed to the gods to allow her to continue working in the office as its permanent employee. If she lost this job, she would be a penniless and jobless person. She was pinning all her hopes on this one job. She hadn't thought of what she would do if she failed. No, she refused to think that she would fail. Failure was not an option. Not after that. Not after what she said. Yes, she will be a permanent employee. With that in her mind, she got ready to go to the office. She took a long luxurious bath with her favourite vanilla scented body oil. She wanted to smell lovely. More so it was the fact that the smell of vanilla calmed her down. After all it was her mother's favourite flavour. Her mother was a crazy fan of vanilla which without doubt had passed down to her daughter.
