Year 1500 B.C.

The world is filled with wicked monsters and demons. The harmony among humans and the creatures are on turmoil. Feasting on human blood and flesh is a heavenly feeling for the demons.

Hakuryu Village, the same year. Amidst heavy downpour and thunderstorm, Nishimiya suddenly got into labor. Her husband was panicking seeing her condition.

"My love hang in there (sob, sob)"- said Okottsu [Nishimiya's husband]. As time passed, Nishimiya's condition worsened. Okottsu couldn't bear seeing his beloved wife in this condition. So he decided to go out calling a midwife residing in the next village. Nishimiya begged him not to leave as it was New Moon night.

I won't be going alone. I'll take Satoshi with me on the way." - said Okottsu. "Even if you're not alone, still it's life threatening dear."- said Nishimiya gritting her teeth as the labor pain was only getting worse. Despite her begging, he went out.

Nishimiya in the hut laid down. [Growling sounds outside]. My goodness, they're here!!!

Okottsu-san where are you? Nishimiya thinking out loud covering her mouth to suppress her vocals. Suddenly the pain hit like no other time. Nishimiya can't hold any longer. She can't scream either. Three monsters are already at the door. All she's thinking about is to protect her child who'll be coming out anytime now.

Placing a hand on her belly, Nishimiya said- "I love you my child. No matter what happens you have to live, live life to the fullest, even if mother is not by your side." After a deadly scream, Nishimiya gave birth to beautiful baby girl. Now the problem is the monsters found her and the newborn. One of the monsters got inside the hut. Nishimiya was bleeding profusely which filled the room. The monster licked the floor once and targeted the newborn. Nishimiya was mortified trying everything to protect her precious baby.

In the meantime, Okottsu got back with his friend Satoshi and Miyamura. The trio attacked the monster to protect Nishimiya and the child. Okottsu looking at Nishimiya screamingly said, -"Run my love. Run away with the child to the shrine. I'll meet you there after handling the situation." "But Okottsu-san! "- Nishimiya being petrified couldn't talk anymore. "No buts, please run to protect our precious child, pleaseeeee,"- said Okottsu. Shakingly Nishimiya started running with the child in her arms towards the shrine.

Okottsu and his friends are demon slayers. They are proficient in their job. But it's New Moon. In new moon, the demons become more powerful as the darkness feeds there mana well. Three against 12 demons. It's already become an unfavorable battle for Okottsu and his friends. Meanwhile, Nishimiya finally arrived at the shrine. She can barely move now. Excessive bleeding made her more feeble. But she can't waste a single moment. She's taking the child inside the shrine. She gave her child to Priestess Kaana and finally collapsed. She's hardly breathing. Looking at her baby girl, she said, "My beloved child, Natsume...". And Nishimiya exhaled her last breathe.
