The Date

I walked through the lobby and behind the pool to my office. I unlocked the door that had the sign ‘No Entry’ on it.

I sleepily walked over to my chair and sat down immediately slouching.

I took in a huge breath and dramatically sighed. Work was pretty boring, but I made a lot of money so I didn’t really care. Besides, Kelsey usually keeps me company, but she had to see her sister today.

I turned my head to the right and saw a stack of paper lying on my desk.

I groaned annoyed and sat up trying to act professional. I grabbed them and hit them against the table straightening them.

I cleared my throat and read aloud, “Complaint,” I frowned slightly, who would complain?

I looked over the complaint about how we needed better hotel service, and we should be able to let the customer extend their stay if they please.

Ohhhh, Maria.

I smirked and crumpled up the form, it wasn’t important anymore. I aimed for the tiny trash can next to my door and threw it like a basketball.

I flipped through the rest of the pages looking for something somewhat important.

My eyes caught sight of the words ‘Expanding Hotel’ on a paper. I immediately stopped and pulled out the sheet. I read over it carefully.

I smiled, Jorge printed this out for me so I could set it up right away. This is why he’s my favorite employee, he always has my back and makes sure I’m caught up with everything without annoying me.

I picked up my work phone and dialed the number on the paper. It rang a few times before someone picked up.

“Hello, this is Kelly speaking, how may I help you?”

“Hello Kelly, it’s Carlos, how’s it going?”

She paused, “I’m sorry, what’s your last name?”

I laughed, “Surprised you can't remember this voice…”

“Ohh, it’s you. It’s been a while, what’s up?” She asked finally caught up.

“Why else would I call? I want your crew to build on to my hotel again. When can they start working?”

“Well Carlos, my men are already working on another project. You’ll have to wait about a month until we can start.”

I frowned at her response. This won’t do.

“No kelly, I need it done soon, all my rooms are booked until Christmas, I need more rooms so I can increase my salary.”

It was silent on the other line for a while, I heard a piece of paper ripping, and then Kelly talked again.

“I’ll send a few men over to help construct, hopefully we’ll be done when they are. That’s all I can do.”

“Are you sure?” I asked with hope in my voice.

“Yes Carlos, I can’t bail on my boss right now, I’m sorry, but my men will be there on Thursday at 11:00 am.”

That means I only have to wait two days, not so bad…

“Okay, well I’ll go then, bye Kelly,” I said ending the conversation.

I rubbed my eyebrows trying to figure everything out. If they came so early I would have to treat them to lunch and discuss the layout plans then, they’d have to stay at a hotel so I’d have to give the, a discount. They would have to stay at my other hotel a mile away, and I’d have to give them a reasonable date for them to finish the layout.

I sighed and leaned back in my chair. I’d need to write this all down.

I opened my eyes and searched through my desk for my notebook, but I couldn’t find it.

“Where did I-”

Oh yeah, it’s in my suite.

I groaned, I really didn’t want to go back up, I literally just came down.

A thought flashed by, I could ask Jorge to get it for me...but he doesn’t have my keys, and he doesn’t have break until lunch.

I huffed while pushing my chair back and standing, I pulled my arms back stretching, then picked up my keys and walked out of my office.

“Maria?...”

She turned to me from down the hallway holding a suitcase and two bags.

She smiled, “Sorry, I didn't know when you’d be back…”

“It fine, I didn’t think you were checking out so early.”

She frowned, “Well I didn’t want to, but I had no choice.”

“It’s cool,” I glanced at her huge grey suitcase as I walked closer.

“Need help?” I offered.

She hesitated before nodding in defeat, “Thank you for letting me stay. I’ll cook you food as compensation don’t worry!”

I grinned evilly, “Actually, I have a better idea.”

I grabbed her suitcase and unlocked my door letting her wait for my idea anxiously.

I lead her to the guest room closest to my room, then set her suitcase down and leaned against the door frame waiting for her to come.

She jumped back after almost bumping into me, “Sorry!”

She awkwardly walked around me and glanced around the room.

“Wow, this is better than my hotel room Carlos…”

I swung my arm around showing off my thing, “It’s all yours for as long as you want, under one condition.”

She stood steadily and stared at me waiting for me to speak.

I grinned back at her nervous face.

She stepped backwards, “I will not give you my body! I’m refuse to do that!”

I laughed, “I’m not a phedafile Maria, I just want to take you out on a date.”

I watched her carefully, her mouth fell open and her hands were behind her back.

Her head fell to the ground as her eyes dotted everywhere.

She closed her eyes and straightened crossing her arms, “Just once?”

I smiled pleased, “Unless you like it then I’ll take you out again, anywhere you want.”

“Anywhere?”

I nodded, her eyes seemed to glow with excitement.

She cleared her throat, “Promise?” I nodded, “No going back on your word Carlos!”

I smirked at her sassiness, “I know.”
