CHAPTER 4
The bell rang, marking the end of class, and Khy, made his way towards the bustling cafeteria for lunch. As he walked, his mind wandered back to a recent encounter that had left him uneasy.
Earlier that day, as he was navigating the unfamiliar halls, Khy had been approached by Dimitri, a friendly classmate attempting to extend a hand of friendship.
However, Khy, reserved and cautious by nature, had rebuffed Dimitri's overtures with a cool detachment that seemed to brush off the social niceties.
Dimitri
"Hey, Khy, right? Nice to meet you. I'm Dimitri.”
The boy had introduced himself, extending a handshake that Khy had ignored.
Dimitri
"Ah, I guess you're not a fan of those things, hehe.”
Dimitri chuckled awkwardly, undeterred by Khy's standoffish demeanor.
Khy had asked bluntly, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Dimitri
"Now, now, there's no need to be cold. I just want to be your friend!"
Dimitri had replied cheerfully, pulling up a chair and sitting down in front of Khy.
Khy had responded curtly, trying to shoo Dimitri away.
Dimitri
"It's fine, it takes time for you to warm up to people, hehe.”
Dimitri had persisted, flashing an easy smile.
Khy
"You're quite the talker.”
Dimitri
"Am I? Is it bad that I want to interact with my new classmate?"
Dimitri had countered, seemingly undeterred by Khy's lack of engagement.
Their conversation had soon turned to the topic of school rules, with Dimitri imparting a piece of crucial advice that had stayed with Khy ever since.
Dimitri
"You probably know the basics, but there's one important rule here.”
Dimitri had begun mysteriously.
Khy had interrupted, genuinely perplexed.
Dimitri
"Yeah, it's about Blacksevenizh Ryovoz Bognadov, the leader of BVS, the Black Vortex Syndicate.”
Dimitri had explained, his voice dropping to a hushed tone.
Khy
"Black Vortex Syndicate?"
Khy had echoed, intrigued despite himself.
Dimitri
"It's a well-known organization here. You see, Blacksevenizh is... intimidating. Especially if you look him in the eyes. One guy disappeared after crossing him. That's how serious it is,"
Dimitri had warned, his expression grave.
Khy had absorbed this information silently, feeling a chill creep down his spine. He hadn't expected his new school to harbor such hidden dangers.
His thoughts were interrupted as he entered the cafeteria, the memory of Dimitri's warning still fresh in his mind.
Standing in line, lost in contemplation, Khy absentmindedly turned with his tray of food and collided with a broad-shouldered figure, causing juice to spill onto the person's shirt.
Student 1
"Hey, it's the Black Vortex..."
Someone in the crowd started to mutter, their voice trailing off as tension gripped the room.
Student 2
“The person is dead, he spilled orange juice on Blacksevenizh!”
Suddenly, three imposing figures loomed in front of Khy, their presence casting a shadow over the bustling cafeteria.
In the center stood the figure whose shoulder Khy had inadvertently bumped into, his eyes fixed on Khy with an intensity that sent a shiver down his spine.
Black began, his voice low and dangerous.
Black
“Not only did you spill juice on me, but you also looked me in the eyes."
Khy froze, realizing with a sinking feeling who he was facing.
The man commanded, his tone leaving no room for negotiation.
Black
"Kneel and convince me to forgive you. Otherwise, I wouldn’t hesitate to smash you right here and now.”
Black
The cafeteria fell silent, the air thick with anticipation as all eyes turned to Khy, waiting to see how he would respond to this unexpected and perilous challenge.
