Bitter ending

"ALEX, CAN YOU STOP YOUR NONSENSE ​ACTIONS?" he heard Maria shout at him as soon as he entered the house.

"Mom."

"I told you not to fall in love with that girl. You didn't follow your mother's words."

It's bad. He thought..He planned to tell his mother about his and Elina's marriage.

"Elina's my lover, mom. I want to marry her."

" Do you think I will approve the marriage? The whole business world is curious about your future wife. Do you think I will accept a girl who is gardener with no family background?"

" Don't say like that, mom. She saved my life."

" Give her some money. She's after your wealth. I can't accept her as my daughter-in-law. I will discuss with your father to arrange your marriage with Ella. She's obedient, pretty and from good family."

"Mom, don't force me. I can't marry other girls except Elina."

Maria didn't say a word. She pressed her chest, collapsed and fell unconsciousness. The family members sent her to the hospital quickly. They all were worried for Maria because she had heart disease.

It was a shock for Maria. Alex was holding his mother's hand, praying silently. He knew he was crying. One side was his mother who loved him so much. One side was his lover. What would he choose?

Elina was worried for her lover. She hadn't seen him for a week. When she called to him, she found that his mother was in hospital. He also couldn't speak too much. She was sad to see him like that.

Even though she didn't want to see his arrogant mother, she needed to visit the hospital. Thus, she went the crowded downtown, with beautiful roses. It was easy to find the room of his mom in the hospital.

As soon as she entered the room, Maria looked at her with unwanted eyes.

" What're you doing here, Elina?"

" I heard that Aunt Maria was sick, that's why I visit."

"It's no need. I want to say clearly, Elina. I highly think of my son, and I also want my daughter-in-law who is perfect from all sides, especially,  who can support him. I can't accept you as his wife. I think you're a smart girl. So, do you know what you need to do, Elina?

Elina acted to be calm but she wanted to cry. She held tightly the bouquet of roses. She slowly walked towards the table and put the roses into the pot.

Maria looked at her without a blink.

"Yes, Ma'am. I realize what to do. I hope you will recover soon."

Then Elina exited the room. Outside the room, she met with her lover. She found that Alex was really thinner and weaker.

"Elina, tell me what I need to do?"

His voice was so weak with hurt and sadness. She wanted to hug him lile as before. But now, she couldn't. She held his hand tightly for the last time, leading him a place for the talk.

With determination, Elina said,

" In this world, love can be replaced but mother can't be replaced. I don't want you lose your mom, Alex."

Alex looked at her with sad eyes.

"Why do you always understand me, L?"

She smiled, " I have told you before that I love you but I had no hope for the future. I don't want you hurt because of me. So, don't worry about me. Please decide bravely that will never be wrong for you."

" I will be okay, Alex. So please be alright. Farewell, Alex."

She hugged him for the last time.

He kissed her hands softly.

Then.. she turned around and started walking...

She didn't cry... because the hurt was so painful that her heart couldn't bear.. she had no energy remained to cry.
