Curving The Odds
I wake up to my phone buzzing non-stop. As my eyes were still closed, I reach for my phone that was charging on my white nightstand. Who the fart is texting this early. It was my group chat that I made with my friends. I ignored them and got myself ready for work. After I took my shower I went to my closet and picked out my clothes. I was wearing a white shirt tucked into my long khaki pants and put on a white cropped University sweater and put on my white heels, I go to my self-made vanity and put my hair in a high claw clip with two strands hanging out and do my makeup I grab my purse with my wallet and phone inside it and head out the door.
The ding of the elevator kicked me out of my Wonderland. I hurried and rushed out of the elevator. I quickly walked to my desk and took out my Sketchbook, and started sketching as the new ideas came to me each second. Time flew by, and I saw a silhouette hanging around by my desk. I look up to see one of my besties with her hands on her hip. "I'm guessing you haven't seen the text messages." She complained as she took my phone out my purse.
Her name is Sarah, aka the party animal, but that's all she wants people to know about her. She has short red dark hair and always wears clothes that are either too small or too revealing. "You guys were blowing up my phone, disturbing my sleep. You know how I feel about my sleep." I reply to her. "Sure, sleeping beauty." She replies sarcastically as I see her roll her eyes from the corner of my eyes. "Why do you ask?" I asked, looking at her, trying to guess the password on my phone.
"Because it's your anniversary with that jackass you call a boyfriend." I look at her crazy and put down my SketchBook and paused for a second looking at all the dates that I could find for today I slap my forehead and scold myself in my head for completely forgetting about my anniversary. "Oh my gosh, I completely forgot." I exclaimed, snatching my phone away from her and looking at my calendar to check, and there it was, the date of my 3-year anniversary with my boyfriend was today.
Sarah smiles as she sits down on my desk as if she was hoping that I had forgotten. "I know you don't like him, but you don't have to smile at me for forgetting our anniversary." I say, crossing my arms. "Relax your besties got you because we already paid for that new fancy restaurant across the street." She teasingly says as her smile gets bigger. "You're kidding, right?" I question her, hoping that she was lying because that place cost more than my paycheck. "You know that I don't play about my money, baby." She plays with her nails and continues on "also we told your boyfriend, so I don't know how you don't know." I haven't talked or seen him since last night when he had that important call, then he left the house. "You sure?" I muttered. "Yeah, so that means when you're done with work, get in your house and put something sexy on and head to that restaurant."
