Brian whispered softly leaning into the crook of my head while I was trying very hard to keep faking my smile through my husband's company's 167th anniversary party.

Ruth

Extremely. What's worse is that we're doing this on our anniversary.

I whispered back with the exact same softness leaning backwards into the crook of Brian's neck smiling at the old woman talking moons and stars with me.

Brian

I am so sorry, for making you go through this

He chuckled softly.

Ruth

Well, you better give me a foot massage after we head back home, hubby.

I replied to Brian and then turned to the old woman's husband who was now talking moons and stars, basically praising my husband's work capabilities.

Mrs. Britania

You two look very beautiful with each other.

The old man's wife, Mrs. Britania remarked as Brian wrapped his arms protectively around my waist and pulled me closer against himself.

Brian

Well this woman better look good tonight as she took exactly three hours to get ready

Brian said in a cheeky attitude and I glared at him through the wine glasses we were both drinking through.

Host Andre

And now, time for the announcements of the annual promotions.

The host announced and we all turned our heads towards the stage.

Brian

Finally! Say hello to the next chief editor of Nation's pride

Brian winked at me and there the announcer spoke out his name.

Host Andre

Brian Lewis, the new chief editor of our magazine, Nation's Pride.

I turned my head around, the smile curling huge across my lips as the whole place applauded for my husband and he winked at me.

Brian

Told ya!

A few more staff were announced. And later, the host told us to enjoy the evening and Brian took my hands into his slowly bringing it up to his lips. He kissed my knuckles and quickly pulled me inside his arms wrapping his other arm around my waist as we headed to the dance floor together.

Ruth

So, Mr. Chief Editor. Where are we headed to celebrate our anniversary after this?

Brian

Hmm... let's see wifey. How about to the beach in an hour?

Brian shot his eyebrows, looking at me with his cute smile and I could do nothing but just stare at his face. Dressed in a fairly expensive suit, probably the only one that he owns in his wardrobe. Today, he was looking so edible. Oops! Did I say edible?
