Paranormal Nigℎt Sℎift.... Chapter 1

The rain pours heavily outside the hospital where I work, accompanied by the strong gusts of cold wind that send shivers down your spine. The thunder rumbles intensely, echoing through the surroundings, while the floodwaters rise outside the hospital premises, creating a chilling and unsettling atmosphere.

The outside of the hospital where I work is frightening as you can't see anything due to the intensity of the wind that passes by as if it has the strength to sweep away anything in its path.

Loud thunderclaps and lightning can be heard outside, especially amidst the heavy downpour of rain and the strong winds, accompanied by the darkness and smoke enveloping the surroundings in the intensity of the rain.

𝑇ℎ𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑆𝑚𝑖𝑡ℎ

It's my first day at work today, and only the night shift was available, so I accepted it because I didn't have a choice. I am a working student, working at night and studying at the University during the day.

I was hesitant at first to accept the job because it's quite far from my apartment, and I was considering backing out to look for a job closer to home. However, I was surprised by the high salary offered, so I decided to accept it since the hospital really lacks staff for cleaning duties.

𝑇ℎ𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑆𝑚𝑖𝑡ℎ

Earlier when I arrived at Dimitrios Hospital, everything seemed fine. The rain and thunder were not as intense at that time. However, within a few minutes, the rain suddenly intensified, as if the heavens were furious.

𝑇ℎ𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑆𝑚𝑖𝑡ℎ

I started my work and approached the reception desk where a nurse was sleeping in front of the computer. I pressed the bell to get her attention.

I pressed the bell several times, but she still didn't notice me. The nurse seemed to be in a deep sleep, and I couldn't clearly see her face as it was covered with a pink scarf.

I was about to press the bell again when she suddenly woke up and greeted me. Her face looked sleepy and tired. As she looked at me, she quickly removed the scarf, revealing a necklace around her neck.

Nurse

Ummm, hi! You're the new one working the night shift. Here are the rooms assigned to you, the floors you'll be cleaning, and the rules you should follow during the night shift as per the hospital regulations.

Nurse

Here are the six rules of the hospital: 1. Don't Break The Rules 2. Don't Enter Facilities that are Closed 3. Don't get Caught 4. Don't tell anyone that you're working in "Dimitrios Hospital" 5. Stay Quiet in Room 1AB7 6. Don't Bring Sharp Objects in your Pockets.

Hmmmm.... You're Rules seems to be a little bit strange🤔🤔🤔... and I looked directly into her eye's with confusion but I immediately smile...

It seems like things got a bit awkward between us.

Nurse

Your night shift work will go smoothly as long as you follow the rules.

I nodded, as a signed i agree with the rules..

𝑇ℎ𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑆𝑚𝑖𝑡ℎ

She handed me a keychain with keys for Room 18 on the second floor, Room 22 on the third floor, and Room A5 on the first floor engraved on the keys.

Nurse

Every day during your night shift, the floors and rooms you will clean, including the hallways, will vary because you will be the only one working during the night shift.

And never forget to follow the rules during the night shift for the sake of everyone's order and safety.

Nurse

Your night shift will end at 6:40 in the morning when the morning shift staff will arrive to take over.

Nurse

Here is your card to swipe the doors open for cleaning. After you finish, you can place it back in the card box.

I simply nodded at her to show that I understood what she said, even though it was a bit strange.

I'm Thompson Smith," I said as I extended my hand for a handshake.

Nurse

I'm Lyn, the Head Nurse here, and I'm assigned to duty during the night shift,".

After introducing myself to the nurse, I quickly boarded the elevator, carrying the cleaning supplies for the 3rd floor that I needed to clean first.

𝑇ℎ𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑆𝑚𝑖𝑡ℎ

I pressed the button for the 3rd floor firmly, feeling the click as I pressed it, and the elevator started moving.

I felt the elevator going up and down, and then I heard the signal that I had reached the 3rd floor. However, I was surprised when the doors opened on the 6th floor, which made me a bit nervous.

Maybe I just pressed the wrong button earlier because I was preoccupied with so many thoughts.

I pressed the button for the 3rd floor again, this time with more focus.

It's a good thing that the elevator doors opened on the 3rd floor. I breathed a sigh of relief.
