Little girl
Granny tell me a scary one today.
Granny
Oh! Are you sure you can handle it?
Little girl
Yes...I can, I have you.
Granny
Okay. Then I'll tell you.
Granny
There was once a deep lake that was never dry despite the weather or season.
Granny
It was a very clear and deep lake. Because of the clear water , the depth of it was always underestimated.
Granny
Many had gone for swimming, fishing and water fetching for home. Though there had been several cases of drowning, people always came back to the lake.
Granny
The lake was alluring, clear and sustaining the lives of several people. Yet year after year several people had fallen into the deep waters. Some of thier bodies had been found but mostly not.
Little girl
Ahhh!!! Creepy.
Little girl
Then, are there no other lakes?
Granny
Yes there were but not as clear and clean as this one. So people simply came there. If one was careful enough they wouldn't simply fall but it was like betting on one's own life whenever one came to this lake.
Granny
It was said that if you go for fishing alone at night...you would be lured into fishing more and more till you reach the deepest part of the Lake. Then before you realize it you're drowning.
Granny
Someone who had nearly drowned had told me this...he clearly felt a hand pulling him deeper and deeper into the water. It was as if a huge stone was tied onto his leg. No matter how well he knew how to swim he couldn't come up.
Little girl
Ahhhhh!!! Someone save him.
Granny
Luckily...his shouts of help was heard by nearby fishermen who came to his rescue.
Granny
The fishermen who had helped him later told us that he was very heavy and difficult to pull up. The man was too heavy for them to pull up despite being thin.
Granny
"No normal human would weight that much, he had the weight which even three adult men couldn't pull up."
Granny
They themselves were being pulled down by his weight into the lake along with him. They had to tie themselves to the boat and only then could they pull him up.
Granny
Someone else also had such a thing.
Granny
Your dad, he died in that lake.
Granny
He had went for swimming as always on hot days.
Granny
I had a bad dream the night before so I warned him not to go. But he just won't listen.
Granny
In the evening his friends came home without him.
Granny
I knew what happened immediately as I saw thier faces. I broke down in tears as I went to let your mom know.
Granny
I went to ask other expert swimmers to at least get his body. They searched for several days in vain.
Granny
Back then I didn't know how to swim in deep waters or I would've searched for him myself. Even If I knew it would be useless.
Little girl
Granny...it's not your fault. I know you tried to warn him several times. I heard you even locked him inside his room. He asked his friends to break it open for him. That's what my mom told me.
Granny
...Yes but it must've been his fate to die on that day. He had never been so disobedient towards me. Or not listen to your mother, he loved her a lot and couldn't bear to hurt her in the lightest.
Granny
He was an expert swimmer and his friends were also quite good. They had always gone to swim there.
Granny
His friends later told me that he was unwilling to come out of the water as if he was taken control of by something. He kept on going down and down into the deeper waters.
Granny
I remember them saying he just went into the water once and never came up.
Granny
They thought he had some tricks to show them so they were waiting but when he had been under the water for a bit long. They swam down to search for him.
Granny
It had not been too long and yet he was nowhere to be seen. They kept on searching and thought he had tricked them and went out to the shore.
Granny
As they swam towards the shore he was nowhere in sight.
Granny
That's when they realized something had terribly went wrong. All of them went back into the deep areas of the water to search for him
Granny
They frantically searched for him for several hours throughout the whole lake.
Granny
It was impossible that a living being had just drowned in clear water and his body nowhere to be found even after searching the whole lake for several times.
Granny
They then went to seek for some more people to search along with them as they were too tired by then.
Granny
But as luck would have it. They searched till dark and didn't find him at all.
Little girl
Granny...I know my dad is the reason why you learned to swim in deep waters.
Little girl
I heard after his death, you learnt to swim all on you own while searching for his body.
Granny
...Yes. After several desperate attempts to get his body. Everyone had given up, but I couldn't bear to leave my boy out in the cold dark waters. I learned to swim so nothing of that sort should ever happen to you or your mom.
Granny
I would lose my sanity if I were to lose you my granddaughter.
Little girl
Granny, don't worry. Nothing bad would happen to me.
Granny
...I truly hope so.

Legend has it that underneath the deep water lies a creature that consumes human flesh whole. Even as others search for the lost person it becomes invisible to them.
Narrator
While the lost person can see his/her loved ones searching frantically for them. His sounds of calling for help are muffled and he is helpless even when he sees everything going on.
Narrator
As more and more people lose thier lives to the creature it becomes heavier. The weight of a drowning person can pull down all his helpers dragging them down all to die.
Narrator
As soon as the person is chosen by the creature, he/she feels as if his/her leg is being pulled by someone from below/under the waters.
Narrator
The force of the pull is so strong, an average human would simply drown and die. Unless someone helps the drowning person, one cannot withstand the pull alone.
