chapter 3
It begins with watching her burns in pain until it becomes yours
And it ends with her leaving…and breaking your sanity
To look at her and wonder if she’s lying… to love her and still question if it’s real—and then to doubt if what you feel is love at all… that’s the kind of silence that ruins you.
I chose the wrong soul… when my gut was screaming the truth. She was my sister. And I walked away. I didn’t lose her. I left her.
“I thought you saw me as family (look down)”
“Am I really that hard to trust? (Teary eyes)”
“I really was your sister… in every way that mattered.” (the words barely leave her lips, as if she’s saying them to the ghosts, not the living)”
You proved that you were better…
“You ask why I’m being so nice?” (she beams, light in her eyes)
“I guess… because we’re family.”
“The medicine’s still hot—don’t take it yet,” she whispers, gently wiping the sweat from his brow. “Just wait a little longer… I’ve got you.”
Even when I asked if you were okay you never once complained…
“I’m fineee,” she says with a playful grin, “I just love taking care of you.” (smiling like it’s the easiest truth in the world)
“It’s just a slight fever,” she says, slipping on her shoes with trembling fingers. “I can still work.” (even as her body begs her not to)
I know I’ve been a lot to deal with… I’m sorry—for all of it.
I couldn’t protect you nor help you…
You came looking for family… and I pushed you away. I mocked you. I made you feel like you didn’t belong. And I’ll never forgive myself for that.
but you never scolded me…You just smiled… like you understood. Like you were waiting for me to stop hating and start seeing you. And I never did—until it was too damn late.
“I am your sister… but if you can’t believe that right now, I understand (she smiled, but her eyes—God, they were breaking.)”
“You didn’t have to take it. If you’d just asked… I would’ve given it to you. Even if it meant letting go of the last piece of her I had left. (her gaze lingers on the shattered music box, eyes shining)”
“Even if it’s meant for me… please don’t speak that way. Someone might think you’re really that heartless and that you are not (her smile wavers, but she holds it anyway)”
“Even so… you didn’t walk away.” (he looks down, voice low)
“You didn’t give up on me… not like everyone else did. You stayed. You believed in me when no one else would.”
“They said he needs help?” (she scoffs, then softens)
“My baby brother’s a damn sweetheart. He doesn’t need fixing—he needs to be understood.” (her smile is warm, but her eyes say don’t fuck with him)
“You don’t have to leave school to work,” she says, her voice low and full of quiet love.
“I can do that… I will do that.” (she pats his head gently, trying to hide the ache in her chest)
“Back then, you just didn’t believe in yourself… that’s all.” (she cups his face, smiling)
“But now? You’re top of the entire school. I always knew you had it in you.”
You taught me so much—without even trying. And now you’re already slipping away.
