Episode 4

You know what it feels like to be heartbroken!? It's when nothing you do, or anyone else does, changes the way you feel. It hurts.

That day, I didn't want to leave the house. I didn't even go to work, I just wanted to stay home drowning myself in pizza and soda. It was my plan, but it wasn't fate's plan.

Someone knocked on my apartment door, several times even after I ignored them.

Theo Urione: What the heck! Who is it? It can't be Rubi, because I told her I wasn't going to work, so she can't... What a pain! I'll have to go and see.

I got up from the sofa and opened the door.

Denny Camara: Hi

I looked, rubbed my eyes and looked again.

Theo Urione: What do you want?

Denny Camara: Do you have any makeup?

Theo Urione: What!?

Denny Camara: Do you or don't you? I don't know who to ask.

I looked closely, he had a black eye and the bottom of his cheek was bruised.

Theo Urione: Damn! Who hit you?

Denny Camara: It doesn't matter! If you're not going to help me, screw you!

He turned his back, and I felt sorry for him.

Theo Urione: Wait! Come in, I do.

Denny Camara: Really?

Theo Urione: Yes... I, well, I wanted to cover up these freckles on my nose so... Well, I don't have to explain myself.

Denny Camara: Can you cover this up? I have an event to go to, and this is going to be awful.

Theo Urione: Let's go.

I took the makeup and concentrated.

Theo Urione: How did this happen?

Denny Camara: I fell down the stairs.

Theo Urione: You know that's always what battered people say, right?

Denny Camara: Damn it! I don't have to tell you anything.

Theo Urione: Geez, I'm here helping you, and you treat me like this?

Denny Camara: ... Sorry. You're right. Let's just say I've had the worst week.

Theo Urione: Don't let it get you down. You're cute, you have an amazing career, and many years to live. One day at a time.

Denny Camara: Yeah... Thanks.

I finished my work proudly. I really did a cover-up with foundation and blush and all the blemishes disappeared. I took a mirror and showed it to him.

Denny Camara: Wow! Thank you.

He left smiling and I was happy to have done a good deed.

... At least at that moment.

At home I ordered a bucket of ice cream for delivery, and decided to watch some television. Coincidentally I came across the network sports event. On the screen was a platform, where some of the city's highlights were. Denny was about to answer the reporter's question at that moment.

"It's gratifying to be here, and see the good development of the city, with a focus on sports. I will always be giving my best for you!"

Theo Urione: That's it Denny!! Beautiful words!

I kept watching, and behind the reporter, I noticed that Denny was heading towards someone.

Theo Urione: Alan!?

My ice cream fell on my clothes.

They disappeared into the background of the screen together. Life was rubbing it in my face again that happiness wasn't for me. Of course it hurt. I made Denny all pretty to see the love of "my life."

The next morning, I felt sick. I threw up so much, it scared me so I asked Rubi to come and take me to the doctor.

°°°

Dr. Reinaldo: Theo, you had food poisoning. What did you eat yesterday?

Rubi Castor: He had pizza, didn't he? I saw the box in the sink.

Theo Urione: Yes. I ordered a four-cheese.

Dr. Reinaldo: I don't believe it! Theo, I'm telling you, you have to lose weight! This is serious, it's your health!

Theo Urione: I couldn't... I didn't have the energy, Doctor.

Dr. Reinaldo: But you need to! Don't you understand the seriousness of this? You have to stop and turn your eyes to yourself! Don't do the opposite! If you don't...

Alan Serrane: Hey!? Reinaldo, can I talk to him?

Dr. Reinaldo: Hi Alan, glad you came. The situation here is terrible.

"||"

My doctor Reinaldo was very nervous. He was really worried about me, I had really kicked the bucket, he didn't know what to say to me, but he knew he couldn't let me off the hook.

"||"

Alan Serrane: Hi Theo, how are you?

His smile was still beautiful, but his expression was calmer than the other days we had met.

Alan Serrane: Let's start over, okay? You need to focus on your diet, but I'm going to help you with that too. Do you think you can do it if I help you?

Theo Urione: And how would we do that?

Alan Serrane: Every day, I'll send you a menu of what you need for the day, and you take a picture of your food for me. But every week, we have lunch together on Monday. Can we arrange that?

Theo Urione: Yes.

"||"

When I said yes, I didn't think I would enjoy spending more time with him, knowing he was romantically involved with Denny. I said yes, because I wouldn't be able to say no to him.

The rest of the day, Rubi stayed with me at home, and when there was half an hour to go before the comet passed, we went up to the terrace.

Rubi Castor: Are you sure you're going to be comfortable?

Theo Urione: Yes, I'm fine, I got this blanket. Did you get the wine?

Rubi Castor: I did, but... It's not a good idea for you to drink. You had a stomach ache.

Theo Urione: I'm fine now Rubi, I need this. And besides, we have to cheer up, right? Do you have your wish ready?

Rubi Castor: Yes. Come on, it's going to appear anyway.

We set up beach chairs, side by side. I wrapped myself in the blanket and took a few sips from the bottle.

Rubi Castor: I've been waiting for this all year! It's going to be amazing.

Theo Urione: I hope so.

Rubi Castor: It will be Theo! Don't forget your wish. When it appears, ask for it with all your heart.

Theo Urione: Okay, I will.

We stared up at the sky for a few minutes, until finally, that comet appeared.
