Mayhem: God's Wrath

Mayhem: God's Wrath

CHAPTER 1/0: STARTING POINT

All of them stood inside the old rooms, their hooded faces illuminated by the fire.

The arcane fire which burned in the middle of the circle turned green, only for a moment.

The hooded figures put off their cloaks, and looked at each other.

They had succeeded.

A worthy champion had answered their calls.

At last, they looked at the corner of the room, where a young girl stood alone.

The chosen one, who would sacrifice themselves in exchange for this world's freedom.

"Are you ready?"

"I am."

The girl replied in her childlike voice, walking towards them.

Their leader handed a curved dagger to the girl.

"May luck be with you."

"May the brave souls guide you."

They exchanged their old saying. Then, he pushed her through the door.

"Go! Before they find you!"

Just at that moment, a hundred figures darkened the sky.

Fires, ices blizzards, lightning storms rattled the whole place.

The dragon knights, the loyal servants of Behemoth were here.

The girl grabbed the dagger hard, and ran down the hill.

She didn't stop. She had to move to the ritual spot.

"Find the girl!"

A soldier shouted.

"Why?"

Another one asked.

"She has the Elvin blood in her veins! She is going to bring a magic user!"

"The hell?!?!"

It was true. It was thanks to her blood that the resistance called for her.

Sure, it was as a sacrificial lamb, but still, for the first time in her life, someone had said that they needed her blood.

She used to hate her mother for this cursed liquid in her body, but now, she was grateful.

She ran through the thick forest, until she reached the cottage.

It was once her great great grandfather's cottage. He used to create powerful spells here, to overthrow the mad gods.

Placing her feet cautiously, she entered the empty house.

Now, it was her time to do the job.

Her comrades had done their parts.

Right now, if she sacrificed herself, their lives would have been for something.

She didn't want to die, but she was determined to complete her task.

With the dagger, she sliced through her palm, and started the ceremony.

The night dragged on, and so did her pain.

With each cut, with each slice, she felt her life fleeing.

Yet she didn't stop.

Gritting her teeth, she kept on, until she was too weak to talk.

"Please........answer....."-the girl said, drawing another ritual circle with her blood.

Her whole body was scarred, the light of her eyes was fading, and life was retreating from her body.

She took the knife from her belt, and started creating a deep cut on her hand.

Blood poured down, and she tried to scream in pain and agony.

But gritting her teeth, she stopped herself from shouting. Or else; THEY would hear her.

She brought out every ounce of power left in her damaged body, and completed the ritual circle.

"Please......."-she said, and her eyes closed down.

Just at that moment, an entity decided to answer her prayer.

Green flames erupted from the centre of the circle, and a person appeared. To change her long-forgotten world.

The girl, who was now a mere spirit, watched the person appearing.

She somehow knew this boy was kind and compassionate.

She knew that he would cry for her, he would feel guilty for letting her die.

She smiled. She had brought the Champion to the people of Bahlmoth.

She could now leave this world peacefully, knowing that the future was in good hands.

In his hands.

Their sacrifices weren't in vain.
