The grip on my arms loosens just a fraction and I know this is my chance. I break free and run out the door. When I'm out I keep running. I did what I had to do and now I have to leave. And that is what I'm going to do.
As I'm running I think of the way it felt. Driving the blades of the scissors into his back.
It felt good.
I ran until I couldn't run anymore.
Eventually I have to stop.
I look around and see that I'm at a bus stop. Then I hear a voice behind me.
"You did good, 'Lista. I'm proud of you." I turn around and see Ricky standing behind me. How did he get here?
"I did what I had to." He just gives me a little smile.
"You know you can't stay here?"
"I know."
"Before you go I want to do something."
Before I can say anything he leans in and plants a kiss on my lips.
Ricky just kissed me!
He pulled away. "The bus is here, you better go."
"Just a second." I pulled him back and our lips met one more time.
We stayed like that until the bus pulled up. We broke apart and he pecked my forehead.
"Go."
And I did.
