VENGEANCE IN BLOOD - EPISODE 1
"𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐛𝐨𝐰."

Another day to waste my time in my foster parents' so-called "home." Well, it was never a home for me to begin with. They took me in at the age of five. But don't get the idea that I'm having the life of a spoiled princess or whatsoever, because I don't. They treated me like a piece of sh!t that they think I am.
I was striding myself down by the stairs, until I accidentally almost dropped her vase displayed by the wall, shoulder-high levelled; luckily I caught it before it even touched the floor. I was about to place it back, but Paula caught me in action. And I assume that she's heading upstairs from where I've been.
PAULA LING
Why can't you just do a single thing right?!
Paula Ling, Jonas Ling's wife here, is scolding me for 'almost' dropping her vase. Can't blame her for being that perfectionist type of woman she thinks she is.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Oh, please. You're scolding me as if I'm a goddamned toddler!
It irritates me to the core that they think they have the authority to boss me around like the naive little girl I was before. Not until the age of 8. I was saved by an old man when I was violently bullied in an alleyway, he offered me hope to live my life in a way it should be. But I needed to end my relationship with this f*cked up foster family.
PAULA LING
You don't have the right to talk back to me, young lady! We took you in, remember that!
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Yeah, sure. adopting me sure was the right choice.
She raised her hand and was about to slap me but someone barged into the scene. And that someone, is my so-called step sister, Amanda Ling.
Ugh, it's broad daylight for God's sake. Doesn't she have Google to search for the definition of 'decency'? I still can't get used to seeing her wearing outfits like a prost!tute 24/7. Like mother, like daughter indeed.
AMANDA LING
Mom, what is all with the commotion?
PAULA LING
This b!tch is pissing me off!
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I was just placing the vase back to its place. But this old hag is making a huge fuss about it.
I reasoned with my eyes rolled in sarcasm and irritation.
PAULA LING
You disrespectful little brat!
Well, that must have really pissed her off. Not that I care about it. She's such an eyesore.
AMANDA LING
Sapphire, you're too much.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Oh, I'm sorry. Guess I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.
PAULA LING
I will call Jonas! I will have him disown you from the family!
Great. I've been waiting for this moment.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Be my guest. It's not like I wanted to be adopted into this family in the first place.
AMANDA LING
Mom and dad treated you like-
And that is where I cut her off from spilling information that is far from reality.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
All of you treated me like sh!t. So, yeah, I get that a lot. Thank you very much. Now, if you excuse me, I have somewhere to go to.
Well, not really. I just can't stand being here with them.
PAULA LING
This is outrageous!
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
And don't forget to call Jonas and disown me.
I replied as I motioned myself towards the door.
AMANDA LING
Heh. You might end up crawling back to us if you do this! We'll give you one last chance to think things through!
I turn myself to face Amanda whose facial expression screams with pride and authority. Assuming that I might actually beg them if anything wrong happens after disowning me.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Oh, darling. I would rather die before I bow.
With a wide smirk displayed on my face, their reaction dropped in a mere second into fear.
I walked out, closing the door with a hard slam.
Taking a long deep breath in then out as soon as the fresh morning air blows gracefully.
I suddenly got a notification on my phone. So, I took it out and read the message.

I replied with an 'Okay' and started walking since it's still 8:20AM.
In a few minutes, I arrived.
I opened the door which rang the bell. The inside is empty except for the cashier lady. I turned to the window side and there I saw him.
Striding myself towards his table and politely greeted him.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Good morning, Gramps.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Good morning to you too, my child. Please, have a seat.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
How long have you been here waiting?
I asked, slowly pulling the chair out for me to sit on it.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Just a few minutes ago.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Did you have your breakfast yet?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
No, no, I'm good.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Ahh, you're at it again. You should eat your meals at the right time, no?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Yeah, yeah.
Antonio Everhart. He's a 67-year-old businessman. He likes to take me at the moment he saved me 10 years ago in the alleyway. At that time, I was scared if I'd do something that I shouldn't have behind the Ling's back. However, he is extremely displeased by the life story I told him ever since I was an orphan until being fostered.
Even without a hint of hesitation, he is determined to take good care of me. He'd send me daily allowances for school and daily necessities. Buy me proper clothes, shoes, sandals, bags, books, pens and pencils and many more.
The Ling family never knew a thing about someone buying me things because I didn't keep them all at their house. Antonio has them at his mansion a few miles from here. He treated me like his very own granddaughter. His son, Christian, has been in England for a long while now. Haven't seen him for the last couple of months. They're very alike in a lot of possible ways. His son treats me like his very own daughter even though he's always from a far away country for business.
ANTONIO EVERHART
I'm calling the waiter.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
No, no, it's okay, gramps.
He gave me a stern glare that signals me to back off. Leaving me no choice but to let him be.
He signalled the waiter for assistance. And in a jiffy, he gave us a pair of menus.
ANTONIO EVERHART
What would you like, dear?
I'm scrolling my eyes through the menu, I don't seem to find anything appealing for my appetite. Frankly speaking, I'm not hungry, but grandpa would nag at me for not eating properly. Not that I would react in a way to how I would react to the Ling family.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I would like some waffles with berries, please.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Same goes for me as well.
The waiter scribbled our order down and collected the menus before heading back towards the kitchen door.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
So, what is it that you'd like to discuss with me, gramps?
ANTONIO EVERHART
You remember Christian, right?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Yes, why?
ANTONIO EVERHART
He is coming back in a few days from England. And we made a decision to have you declared as his heir, officially.
Okay, so, Christian, my 'dad', is coming back from England, and they decided to officially declare that I'm his heir officially?!
My eyes widened, and my ears seemed to have an issue with hearing things.
ANTONIO EVERHART
A little birdie told me that Paula is talking to Jonas, a few minutes before you arrived, to file papers to disown you.
He told me before that he has someone eyeing their movements inside the Ling family about their treatment on me and all. I still don't know who but, damn, my ass is gon' be disowned from them for good.
ANTONIO EVERHART
I got everything ready for you.
Tears started flowing down my cheek. My mouth opened a little. I don't know what to say anymore. Antonio and Christian have done so much for me ever since I was a teen.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Why are you crying now, my child?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I- Ahh- Uhmm-
ANTONIO EVERHART
Come now, dear. Give this old man a hug.
He smiled at me with open arms as I stood up, stepping myself towards him and returning him the hug as I started crying out loud like a little girl.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Behind your high wall, you're still that little girl I saw in the alleyway. The girl whose eyes still burns with a strong desire to escape from being caged and tortured.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Thank you...
I whispered as I continued on sobbing.
ANTONIO EVERHART
For what?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
For giving me hope...
ANTONIO EVERHART
Don't be ridiculous. You deserve a better life as well, dear.
He patted my head gently as I slowly stopped crying.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I wanna be strong, gramps...
ANTONIO EVERHART
You already are, dear.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
No. Not in that way.
I slowly pulled away from the hug and looked at him in the eyes with determination.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I just can't be your heir if I'm not strong.
ANTONIO EVERHART
What do you mean, my child?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I would like to be trained, gramps.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Very well, then.
Christian Everhart, a filthy rich businessman. Very popular in England. But there is so much more about him. In return for their kindness towards me, I would like to transform myself into someone who is more capable of anything, independently.
ANTONIO EVERHART
You're turning 18 in a few days, no?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
On April 11th, yes. Why?
ANTONIO EVERHART
Christian would like to throw you a birthday party as much as I do.
I just gave off a polite smile and nodded as I went back to my seat.
We continued talking casually as the waiter served our freshly made waffles topped by berries.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Let's dig in.
