It was the year 2027 and it was the week of graduation for Sam and his friends. Knowing this, Sam thought to himself that he should do something big before the day of graduation. He decided to throw a party. Fast forward to Friday night and all his friends were at his party having a good time and talking about what they were going to do after graduation. All of a sudden a beam of light hits everyone at the party. Sam, Malikai, Louis, Nazir, Kenneth and Cayden ran away with a group of other people, not knowing what the beam of light could do to them. Jariel, on the other hand, didn't run away and ended up getting vaporized with the other group of people who were in shock because of the beam of light. Seeing this, everyone ran away, and just like the party was over and Jariel was dead. It was now 12:00 a.m. and Jariel’s parents got the news and they were so heartbroken. The rest of the friend group found out he died later that day. Curious, Sam started researching about what that beam of light was or where it could have originated but even with all his efforts he couldn't find anything. It was now Monday and the friend group was at the breakfast table they usually sit at, but this time Jariel wasn't there and the thing is, not many people cared except his friends. People were posting R.I.P’s that didn't even know him. Jariel’s parents were planning his funeral on Sunday, and they planned for it to be on Thursday, which happened to be the same day they have their graduation ceremony. It wasThursday morning and Sam woke up feeling a little happy because it was the last day of school and he was ready for summer so he got up and got ready for school. On the bus, on his way to school something seemed off. When he looked out the window he thought he saw Jariel, but once he looked out the window again he wasn't there so Samjust brushed it off. He arrived at the school and everyone was in a much happier mood and they were ready to read their speeches that they prepared. As everyone wass signing yearbooks and taking pictures the friend group decided to stay away from everyone else and were talking about what they wrote for their speeches. It was 11 a.m. and it was time for everyone to read their speeches. They called everyone up by name in alphabetical order. Cayden was first and he wrote “ Dear all, as I'm about to graduate, I want to express my unwavering passion for baseball. It’s been more than just a game to me; it’s been a source of joy and I'm continuing to play baseball beyond the halls thank you all.” Next was Kenneth and Kenneth said in his speech that “Reflecting on these past years, I can’t say it was all fun and games. There were challenges yet I'm grateful for every single moment because high school opened doors I never imagined. Thank you all for being a part of this chapter of my life.” Then it was Louis, and he said “ Looking back on my high school years, I’m grateful for the challenges and triumphs that shaped me into who I am today. Despite all my ups and downs I can confidently say that high school made me a better person. Thank you all.” Then came Malikai and he said “ I'm thrilled to announce that I’ll be pursuing my basketball dreams at the University of Kentucky. To my coaches, teammates, mentors and supporters, thank you for believing in me. And to my family and friends, your unwavering support means everything.” Next was Nazir and he said “ I find myself standing at a crossroads, with numerous options beckoning me towards different dreams and I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet but I'll make that decision soon. Thank you all.” Next was Sam but right as they were about to call his name a big commotion broke out and you wouldn't believe what everyone was looking at. It was Jariel!!! Everyone was stunned, Sam didn't know what was going on so he rushed over, and what he saw would change him forever. The Jariel that they knew was no longer the same person. He had pieces of his skin peeling off and the way he smelled was revolting, everyone else was confused but Sam knew exactly what happened to him. Jariel had become a zombie.
