The Duke is Finally Here

This is it, I guess.

Everyone in the mansion waited patiently down the hallway. The Lady, whose orignal owner of the body I'm possessing, is claimed to be the wife of the Duke of this mansion.

I don't know why my body starts to feel giddy. Why am I expecting him? It's not like I've seen this person for me to feel excited!

What's more, I didn't expect to be married already! Heavens, have mercy on me and I hope this goes smoothly.

The large doors opened, revealing a set of Knights. Then a person of importance announces the Duke's return. "The Duke has returned from war."

Everyone in the house bows down with Ross saying, "Welcome back, Duke Seven".

My heart beats frantically and unknowingly followed the people around by bowing my head too. Lillie seemed to notice that's why she immediately reacted.

"Lady Reinalia, do not bow with us and approach your husband!" She urged me, whispering.

Just because this body of mine have moved before without me knowing does not mean it will always guide me all throughout. How would I know?

Retracting my bow immediately, I watch as the Knights enter the mansion. Behind the announcer was supposed to be the Duke.

There, like a slow motion, a tall and differently armored knight was revealed. I guessed that's my duke.

Wait a minute self, why did you just say my duke? You've only met him now!

I don't know why but my heart was beating for his existence. This body, specifically.

He entered the mansion along the knights as regal as he was. Black and disheveled hair, tantalising blue eyes, a stubble on his jaws, and furrowed brows. The owner is just as enchanting as the first time I saw the mansion earlier. He was a breathtaking person.

I didn't realized I was admiring him as he finds his eyes to mine. "Welcome back, my Duke," as if my mouth has its own mind, it said with a slight crack.

"I'm back, Lady Reinalia," he said. I didn't understand the beating of my heart. It seems rather lost?

I then confirmed that after greeting the duke, his eyes were cold and distant boring to my eyes. What is this feeling? His eyes immediately changed its direction to call Ross.

"Please prepare the table, let us have our early dinner," he instructed the butler and passed through me.

His voice was icy and distant. As he passed by, it seems as if a cold wind gushes through.

It's not that I chose to but I feel rather... cold? It was obvious that the duke was not particularly excited to see me. But why? I thought we are married?

"Lady Reinalia, let me take you to the dining hall," Lillie intruded my thoughts when she appeared in front of my view with a sad smile. I don't seem to like the situation right now as I try to understand what's happening.

I don't want to confirm anything right now. So with a found courage, I proceed to the dining hall.

When the doors were opened, I gulped at the sight of the long table. Different dishes were served, different kinds of appetizers, and what not were placed neatly.

So this is what they call a feast.

The duke was already seated. I don't understand this feeling of mine. It seems I'm scared of sitting next to him after his approach to me earlier. So I took the seat across to him.

It was far from him but we were face-to-face with one another. Right after I seated only his knights took their seats on the remaining chairs on the remaining sides of the table.

I can't seem to look at the duke's eyes. So I bring my face down to look at the foods in front of me. Is that roasted chicken?

"Let's eat," the duke announces to my surprise which made me finally look him into the eyes. He was also looking at me.

Feeling awkward, I immediately get of my sight to him and start taking the food.

"So Sir Seven, while eating let's discuss about the postwar situation happening in..." I heard a knight starts a conversation to which everyone joined in talking.

While in my own world, I took a bite of this random unknown dish that I found weird . Crunchy yet surprisingly soft on the inside with a cheesy taste, it opened my eyes. It's delicious!

While a random maid was placing other food, I took a hold of her. "May I know what is this called?" I asked, still munching the deli.

The maid was rather shocked at my question. "My lady, you've been eating croquettes for a long time. How would you forget?" she asked.

"Oh silly me, I didn't forget. The croquettes were unbelievably getting delicious that's why it left me dumb. Hehe." I said to which she smiled and left.

That was a wrong move! Good thing I immediately found an alibi. Reign, don't forget that you are not you.

Back to my own world, I took a sip at this weird looking white soup. It was creamy and delicious. I guess I should try and visit our chef here to learn about these dishes because every single dish here is amazing.

I didn't realize that I finished a large portion of food when an urge to burp suddenly comes to me. I also feel tight and stuffy around my body almost forgetting that I am wearing a corset.

Feeling satisfied, I slumped into my chair and sighed as I close my eyes.

"My lady," a whisper from my right ear, it was Lillie. "You seem to be sleepy right now, would you like me to lead you back to your room?" she asked but seems to be rushed.

I nodded because Lillie might be having things to do right now so when I opened my eyes. The duke was staring at me with an unreadable expression. The knights were also looking at me.

Only did I realize my mistake.
