Better mathematician
The episode opens on the day of the Math Olympiad. The hallways of Greenwood High School are buzzing with nervous energy as students prepare for the big test. Keira and Darvin, each with their group of friends, approach the entrance to the exam hall.
Keira Vincent (FL)
*Mockingly* Nervous, Darvin? You should be. I’ve been practicing all week.
Darvin Van (ML)
*Smirking* Practicing? For what? Second place? Don’t worry, Vincent. I hear silver medals are still shiny.
Keira Vincent (FL)
*Rolling her eyes* Keep dreaming. By the end of this, you’ll be buying my lunch for a month. Hope you brought your wallet.
Darvin Van (ML)
*Laughing* And when I win, I’ll make sure you go broke.
The students file into the exam hall, taking their seats. The proctor gives instructions and starts the timer. Keira and Darvis are seated on opposite ends of the room, each focused intensely on their papers.
Supervisor
[Announcing] Pencils down. Please hand in your papers and exit the hall quietly.
Keira and Darvin exit the hall, their friends waiting for them. They immediately seek each other out, ready to continue their rivalry.

*Smirking* How’d it go, Van? Did the pressure get to you?
Darvin Van (ML)
*Confidently* Pressure? Please. I was done ten minutes early. How many questions did you have to guess on?
Keira Vincent (FL)
*Defensively* Guess? I don’t need to guess. I know I nailed it.
Darvin Van (ML)
*Laughing* We’ll see. Better start thinking about what you’re going to say when you admit I’m the better mathematician.
Keira Vincent (FL)
*Firmly* Don’t count your chickens before they hatch, Van.
[A few days later, the results are posted on the bulletin board outside the math classroom. A crowd of students gathers to see how they did. Keira and Darvis push their way to the front.]

*Excitedly* There it is! Darvis scored 99!

*Reading the list* And Keira scored 98! That’s so close!
Keira stares at the results, a mix of frustration and grudging respect on her face. Darvis, meanwhile, can’t hide his triumphant grin.
Darvin Van (ML)
*Grinning* Looks like I’ll be enjoying some free lunches and watching you go broke
Keira Vincent (FL)
*Narrowing her eyes* Don’t get too comfortable, Van. This isn’t over.
Darvin Van (ML)
*Smirking* It never is, Vincent. But for now, enjoy second place. It suits you.
Keira Vincent (FL)
*Sarcastically* Enjoy your victory, Van. It’s the last one you’ll get.
The next day, Darvis carries keira's books as they walk through the hallways. Their friends watch with amusement, knowing that this will only fuel their competitive fire. Then keira goes and buys lunch for both herself and darvis
