Blushing

Sitting at her desk, head down, while listening to music. Ali sighed, ‘Its Monday again...’ she thought. It’s true that she gets excited going to school, the main reason being that she gets to see Carcel, but a Monday is still a Monday, and Monday’s always sucks, no matter the circumstances.

*knock* *knock*

She looked up from her table, visibly shocked by the situation.

‘Why is Carcel standing in front of me?’

‘No! Why is he standing in front of me AND looking at me?!’

“Uhm? Hi?” she hesitantly spoke.

“Ali right?”

“Yes…”

“Do you mind if I sit beside you?” Carcel asked.

“Oh! Not at all” she replied, heart pounding quickly.

She sat uncomfortably on her seat, not being able to contain herself from blushing.

‘Let’s get this straight, Carcel had just asked to sit beside me, and I allowed it?’

Before she can even process anything that happened, one of her friend walked into class.

"Good morning, Ali” Xana said as she sat in front of Ali, briefly smiling at Carcel who now sat at the unoccupied seat beside Ali in their medical class.

“Oh, good morning, Xana, how was your weekend?” she chatted, hoping to forget the presence beside her.

“It was great, I went out with Mae, Bianca and one other person. It’s a shame you couldn’t come, we would have had so much fun” she replied. “I could have introduced to you the guy who I’ve been talking to.”

“I forgot about that!” Ali exclaimed. She had completely forgotten that Xana had told her that she was going to introduce the guy who had been occupying her friend’s heart for the past two weeks. “Well, there’s always next time, or… you can introduce him to me right now” Ali teased.

Xana blushed, causing Ali to laugh.

“Soon, I promise”

And with that, they had finally turned their focus on the teacher who had just walked into class.

Ali sat bored in her seat. Yes, she was sitting with Carcel, that’s great, but the lesson is boring. The teacher is talking about the upcoming group project that the class must do. She isn’t that interested in it since she already knows that she will eventually just ask Xana to just partner up with her for this project. That is until, her ears picked up on something.

“You will be partnered up with your seatmate” the teacher said.

“Oh” Ali mumbled.

“I guess we’re partners” Carcel glanced at Ali and gave a smile.

“Y-yeah, I guess” Ali replied hiding her blush. “Uhh, anyway, what topic do you want to do for the project?"

“Whatever you pick, it’ll be my pick too”. AGAIN! He gave that warm smile again.

“Okay, then… How about we just research about ACL Reconstruction, I have some knowledge about that from last year’s medical class, I think it’ll be easier to do the project based off of that, and if you’re confused about anything, you can just ask me anytime”.

SHE DID IT! She finally held a conversation with Carcel that’s more than a sentence long, she even managed to squeeze out a smile for him.

“Sounds perfect! I’ll see you tomorrow then” he replied, standing up and patting Ali on the head.

Ali went to her next class, still in a daze.

If her mom saw her at this state, she might think that her daughter is severely ill just by how red she had gotten.

Its honestly laughable how a simple pat on her head by Carcel can completely rid her of any awareness of her surroundings. Or how a simple pat can completely shake her world, making her unable to do anything to stop her rapidly beating heart.

I honestly should start title-ing every episodes, I mean this episode could literally just be titled ‘BLUSHING’ just by how much I’ve mentioned it in the story…
