In novel Jungkook was shown as a villain just because he took the throne from his elder brother. You ask why the younger son became emperor instead of the elder son?

It's because according to novel the protagonist was kidnapped by someone when he was born and he led a pitiful and miserable life until he was found back by the Emperor's men. but because of his this situation and his late education he wasn't eligible to become Emperor. Jeon Doyun always had this thorn in his heart and that's why didn't even blink when he killed Jungkook in future.

I know the protagonist had it rough but with Jungkook's personality if he asked for the throne he would have given it away like some candy
