By the time she arrived at the vending machine, sweat was running down her face. Cassandra hurriedly inserted the coins and pressed some buttons. A refreshing fruit juice would really help relieve her from the heat.
She glanced at her companion while she waited for her drink. He seemed bored sitting on the bench, with one leg crossed over the other.
She's supposed to look away after five seconds but from where she is he looked somewhat suspicious in that getup. Well, anyone would stand out if you wear such suffocating clothes in this hot weather.
Though she had a lot to say, she kept her mouth shut. After all, he's forced to hide his identity from his frantic fans. It's not like he wanted this. In view of all circumstances he's still an idol.
When he turned his head to her direction, she smiled at him and in response Isaac slid the sunglasses he's wearing down the bridge of his nose to glare at her. He must be getting impatient.
Cassandra sighed as she recalled how she got herself in this situation. It was a big mistake.
That evening she confessed how much she loves Isaac and how she can't live without him. A big fat lie she made to escape what she believes is her engagement with Leon. However, what Cassandra didn't know was that her fiancé is actually Isaac.
"Sunny, get on your feet."
The last time she heard her father used her pet name was ages ago and It's sad to think how distant he became. But feeling a little confident, Cassandra crossed her fingers and silently complied.
"If you were this eager why did you act like you don't want to be introduced?"
She had a puzzled look on her face that reminded Mr. Lin he hadn't explain the situation to her properly which he would have done if she didn't avoid it every time he brought it up.
"I went on and on about you marrying into the Lim family but I didn't give you the specifics. You must have confused the brothers."
The brothers?
Her eyes widened as it dawned on her. That's right. Leon is Isaac's paternal brother. Well, Isaac's affiliation with the Lim family isn't publicly known and only a few people are aware. Still, how could she forget?
That aside, what he said about her being confused intrigued her more. She felt her gut churn. There's that feeling of uneasiness again, that feeling of impending doom. She had a vague idea of what he meant but she had to ask.
"So, what you're saying is?"
Her father's lips curled up. She blinked a few times. Her eyes must be playing tricks on her. The infamous Mr. Lin, the man who keeps a straight face even when told the funniest jokes, is smiling. The world is probably ending tomorrow.
He chuckled "Either would be a good match but Isaac is much preferred by your mother considering his career and your fondness of the entertainment industry."
She isn't really fond of, or rather interested in show business. She just watched those dramas as reference to make her lies more believable. Nevertheless, it became a habit in the long run.
"And I've got to hand it to your mother, she knows you well." He looked at Isaac and placed a hand on his shoulder "Young man, you heard my daughter's earnest confession. I hope you return double the sentiment." He patted his shoulder twice and then walked pass him to give Cassandra a firm hug "Now I'll give you time to talk and we'll proceed with the announcement."
Beep.
A short high tone brought her back to the present.
Cassandra averted her gaze to the machine and saw her drink at the bottom, waiting for her. She bend down but somebody else beat her to it.
She looked up at the offender and begrudgingly watched him slug down the drink. Cassandra move her tongue across her dry lips. She's really parched. She can just buy another but it was the last of that flavor and it's a favorite.
"I asked you twice and you told me you weren't thirsty." She said through gritted teeth
"I am now."
Lies. She knew he did it on purpose to piss her off.
"Here."
Her eyes lit up when he extended the cardboard cup to her, but hesitated.
Isaac playfully grins at her "Don't you want to share a drink with the man you love?"
'The man you love.'
She blushed. She wish she could take it all back but she already reached the point of no return. He has been using that phrase nonstop and she's sick of hearing it. Isn't he embarrassed?
"Hey, what are you spacing out for when the man you love is in front of you?"
Ugh.
Cassandra rolled her eyes and quickly take the cup however, it felt light.
"Be sure to throw it in the right bin."
"You don't have to tell me!"
She scowled at him and waved the empty cup in the air as she crushed it with her hand and aggressively threw it in the nearest bin only for it to bounce back.
Cassandra groaned in frustration.

This is really good. Her avoidance this time until she’s adult makes the story goes completely different than her past lives.
So in the beginning of the last life, the little boy she fought it was Issac (Zac)?
Couldn’t wait the updates. 👍👍
