Chapter 7: The Painful Reunion

...AUTHOR'S POV...

Julian's blood boiled when he saw his son limping. He strode towards Alex and squat down before him and asked him endless questions about his injury.

"Daddy, I'm alright." Alex assured Julian.

"But how did you get yourself injured? Didn't I tell you to be careful while playing."

Alex apologized to his father and promised to be careful while playing. But on the other hand, someone was shocked to the core.

Naomi had never in her wildest dreams would have wondered that she could meet Julian after whole five years. She has always tried to hide her identity and stayed away from Julian.

But the biggest shock of her life was that he got married and had an adorable kid with his wife. She was completely shattered and numb all over. Even after whole five years, she never forgot Julian. She had a little hope that he would be waiting for her just like she did.

An arm shook her, and finally she came out of the shock still watching the father and son having their conversation.

"Naomi, are you alright? I know this can be hard to accept, but you have to." Anastasia who was watching the whole scene was shocked too.

She knew Julian through Naomi and also saw them being strangers to friends to lovers and then strangers again. *Sigh* This situation is weird in itself. It was already known that they would have to meet sooner or later. Anastasia thought.

"Daddy, Mimi helped me to bandage my injury" Alex chirped.

Julian who was confused, frowned his eyebrows and asked his son, "Mimi? Who are you talking about Alex?"

"Yes Daddy, look she's here" Alex turned his head and looked at Naomi with a wide smile on his face.

Julian moved his head where Alex was pointing. His eyes met hers, and it went wide from shock. He saw the person who shattered his heart five years ago by betraying him.

Alex tugged on Julian's coat when he realized that his father wasn't listening to him. When he did so, Julian came back to his senses. Not wanting to create a scene, he lifted Alex in his arms and left the event.

What did I do to receive your hate, Julian?

Naomi who was feeling that she would break down emotionally left the place after informing Anastasia.

Anastasia knowing Naomi's inner turmoil, followed her best friend to her home. She also knew that Naomi was not only emotionally unstable but also lonely. Without saying anything she just supported her friend and gave her the space she needed.

Once they entered Naomi went to her bedroom, locked it and slid down to let her emotions out. She hysterically cried until her eyes became puffy and nose turned red.

She couldn't believe that her once true love, got married and had a kid with his wife, which was her dream once. She couldn't understand that why Julian hated her and pushed her away from him. Futhermore she also wondered what her fault was, that made Julian run away from her and hurled insults to her five years ago.

Anastasia sitting just outside Naomi's door waited for her to let her emotions out. She knew that Naomi had always showed her strong, bold and confident side for five whole years in front of everyone. But from inside she has been broken and hurt.

Not only she was doubted and mistrusted by her lover but also the death of her parents due to an accident made her lose everything in one day. That week neither she ate nor she talked to anyone. She went into depression and still has nightmares and panic attacks every few days.

"Naomi, you know right, I'm right beside you? No matter what I'll support your decisions and will stand by you even when the world is against you"

Naomi who heard her best friend couldn't take it anymore. She opened the door and hugged her best friend and cried in her embrace.

The day went with Anastasia comforting Naomi while Naomi had finally had fallen asleep after crying the whole day.

Whereas other side, Julian went to his room, locked it and started drowning his sorrows with the help of alcohol. He had already gave Alex to his 60-year-old Nanny to take care of him.

He was also heartbroken just like Naomi. But his way of letting his emotions out was different from Naomi.

Men are always told that they have to be strong and can't cry, since it is against the men's decorum. (F*cking double standards 🙄) And being not only the oldest son, a responsible father but also a leader to his company.

Despite not wanting, he started thinking about the shared moments and memories between him and Naomi. The moment he saw her all the bad memories started to appear, he couldn't help but wonder Naomi, was I not enough, that you hurt my family too?

Both were sad, depressed, lonely and couldn't help but think about one another. Their minds wanted to stay away from each other, but their heart were already connected to each other.
