The Men She Ever Slept With
“So, how was your birthday?” asked the man with gray hair completely taken over his black natural.
The girl looked bored; she was twirling the straw on her raspberry smoothie glass.
“I slept with a man,” her reply was indifferent yet sounded bitter.
The man in front of her could not help but slightly open his mouth due to the shock. It has been a decade since her last.
“What has he done?”
“To me?” she asked rhetorically. “Well… nothing.” After pausing for quite some time, thinking. The silence was too loud for many minutes later. The girl was staring at the window and saw people were always busy at midday, yet she had nothing to do, she needed to summon this man just to say a few words.
“You know,” she finally, y broke the awry silence between them. “After many years, it seemed like I slowly lost the connection to my body.” She slurped loudly the remaining of her drink before continuing. The man opens his ears wide to what she is about to say. “That bastard still dying of pleasure before his ruin, yet I felt nothing. Just skins clasping… It was disgusting.”
The tears came down to her pale cheeks. She covered her eyes and did not let a single sound out from her radiant bright red lips.
This was not his first time seeing her in tears, yet he always could not hold his urge to hide her in his arms and protect her from misery. But instead, he offered a handkerchief as usual.
“You are one of the reasons why this world is not that fucked up, Giovanni.”
Her memory was hazy, and slowly she was not sure whether something happened or it was just her imagination, but one thing was for sure, she never forgot how they met.
It was cloudy at the hospital building’s rooftop. The wind was dry, and the city life sometimes reminded her of an ant colony: always busy for food. She stood on the edge and looked at the place that would end her tragedy for the last time. She waited for the people to go and clear the area for her body to land and finally, the moment came.
“Please don’t throw yourself, Miss!” a shout was coming from a young man in a white robe, a typical doctor. His gray eyes were pure of worry.
“I know it’s hard, but whatever illness you have, please live.” He stepped closer slowly to make sure the girl he was about to rescue did not make a hasty decision.
“So funny, Young Man. You should leave. You’ll be traumatized if you see this for the second time.” Like a thunderstruck, he froze. How did this girl know a horrible past he never told anyone?
“It’s no good. I have to go.” She jumped from the height, leaving him in a great shock. His pale face turned even paler. Like the life had been sucked from him. Tremble, he walked to where the girl jumped. There, with a silly smile, the back of the dress stuck to the protruded railing.
“Suddenly I don’t feel like it. Grab my hand, Young Man.”
