y/n
*Found that working within the castle was easier than she thought,*
y/n
/The most difficult part of the day was cleaning the ballroom./
Currently, she was out in the meadows
walking a beautiful brown steed, the horse growing older in its years which made the stablemen believe easing her into the job would be the best decision.
y/n
/I quite enjoyed the task/
The horse, who's name she found out was Legend, was the King's when he was young, traveling to many places and overcoming many challenges with his master. What's more, Legend even aided Adrian when he fought in the Gerrad war, becoming the very legend he was named after.
y/n
"How are you doing, Legend?"
y/n
* Questioned softly as she stroked his nose,*
The animal merely nickered in response, continuing to munch on the grass be was finding particularly delectable at that point.
y/n
*Waited for a few minutes more before pulling his reins to resume their walk, doing so until it was time to take him back to the stables.*
y/n
*Afterwards, helped with cleaning out each of the stalls, the job tiring to the point that it made her arms feel like jello.*
y/n
*Thankful when the day ended.*
Eating dinner cautiously bathing without anyone seeing her, she then slipped under the covers of her bed.
Unwrapping her binding silently and slipping it under her pillow as she did last night,
y/n
*Then closed her eyes and promptly fell asleep. *
The next month continued without a hitch like that, (Y/N) making sure to stay silent and to stay invisible, knowing she would be better off if she did so. But, that all changed the day she woke up on the morning of the first week of the second month.
Basile
*Spoke as soon as she walked out of her room quietly,*
y/n
/Did he... figure out my true gender?/
y/n
/Why ask for me specifically?/
Basile
"I've observed all new recruits for the past months now, and I am impressed with your service and loyalty,"
Basile
*Pushed up his wire-framed glasses
staring at her with those piercing light eyes of his.*
Basile
"Therefore, I need you to do a certain task for me_ a task regarding Prince Adrian. Please, follow me."
y/n
Followed after Basile,
y/n
/The Prince, again.. huh?/
y/n
/I don't think l'm looking forward to this./
Walking out into the courtyard, (Y/N) followed Basile all the way around the lavish building until they reached one of the four main halls to the throne room. Traversing down one of the halls, Basile threw open the double doors of a room to reveal a lavish bedroom.
A bed sat in the center with black silk sheets, floor to ceiling windows on the adjacent walls covered in thick, heavy black curtains, and other smoothened oak furnishing inlaid with golden accents occupied the room as well.
y/n
*As soon as she stepped inside, her nose wrinkled, the vile smell of iron overcoming her senses*
Two bodies lay in the middle of the room, staining the grandiose carpets on the floor red with blood. Their
glassy eyes stared blankly up at the ceiling, the jagged cuts on their throat indication where so much blood had come from.
y/n
"What... happened here?"
y/n
*Disgusted by the sight before her.*
Basile
''I trust you will not reveal what I am about to tell you,''
Basile
*Narrowed eyes, straightening his cuff link as if such sights were an everyday occurrence. *
Basile
"These men were assassins disguised as servants sent by the Chalar Kingdom. I'm sure you already know of the revolting woman they have as
Queen, so you not?"
y/n
"Yes,''
*swallowed thickly. *
"I do know."
Basile
"Appreciated,"
*nodded. *
"Now, please clean up this place. I expect satisfactory results."
(Y/N) inhaled deeply, steeling herself before setting to work, starting with the bodies first so the smell that they were starting to emit wouldn't spread. Rags and buckets soon littered the floor as she mopped up the spilt blood that was just beginning to dry, the water soon taking on a pink tint that darkened the more ground she covered. Having to stop herself from retching multiple times, relief flooded through her when somebody finally came to take the cloth-wrapped
bodies and ruined carpet away
y/n
/I wonder... do people see these dead assassins, and think they were killed for no reason?/
y/n
/From the way Basile acted, only a few select people know about these attempts on the Prince's life, meaning rumors will abound./
y/n
/I guess Banco..was wrong./
y/n
/If Adrian could kill someone like this, he could kill anyone whom he thinks opposes him, including me. /
Scrubbing the blood splattered floors and windows, washing the sheets that also had traces of blood, and replacing the carpet, she stood back after completing her work with a nod,
Adrian
''I see you've completed your task,"
Adrian
*Stared down at her, a brow raised.*
y/n
"Greetings, Your Highness, the Lesser Sun of the Empire,"
y/n
"As Mr Basile had ordered, made sure
to clean this room thoroughly."
Adrian
"You did well. I can't even smell
the scent of blood."
y/n
"I thank you, Your Highness."
Adrian
*Swiping a gloved finger along one of the windowsills, nothing coming off as he expected*
Adrian
"After all, it would be hard to sleep here at night if it smelled like a corpse.''
Adrian
*turned around to face her*
Adrian
