Story Of Gorkhaland

The start

It was 1986 Darjeeling,India when the gorkhaland movement was started.(Gorkhaland movement was a movement started by subash ghising.He demanded the separation of darjeeling district from West Bengal for the nepali speaking population who were not treated like the bengalis. Nepalis are the 2nd in majority after bengalis in West Bengal)(for more details on this topic you can search about the gorkhaland movement in wikipedia) My father use to tell me stories of Gorkhaland movement.I was born many years after the movement started. My father was a cook and my mother was a nurse. We were from a normal family. I used to study in class 4 or 5 when I myself witness the movement.We used to stay in siliguri when the 2017 agitation began.We did not face much problem due to us not looking much like nepalis (most nepalis are fair/white in colour) our family looked like people from UP/Bihar and our landlord who was a bengali was very nice with us cause we were staying in the same house for more than 18 years now but the nepalis who came from darjeeling areas like us for working were beaten many people who had their permanent houses their houses were burned. Our schools were closed and lockdowns were normal for us.
