My D-day...

On the day I parted ways with Drishya, it felt as if our paths would never cross again. The haunting thought that perhaps he would never forgive me or had even forgotten about me, gnawed at me incessantly.

Yet, my heart remained tethered to him, lost in the labyrinth of his thoughts.

After parting with Drishya, I never encountered another soul who stirred my heart in the same way. The feelings I had for him were unlike any other, and no one else could ever compare.

However, on that day, when I saw Drishya again at the AD Group office after so many years, it felt like someone had finally applied a soothing balm to my old wounds.

When he approached me with a smile and asked, "Do you remember me?" it was as if his simple words had the power to erase all the pain I had endured over the years, making it seem as if it had never happened.

His serene, glistening eyes conveyed that he held no grievances against me. Instead, it seemed like he had been waiting for me too, and perhaps he genuinely believed that we would cross paths again.

For all these years, I had been haunted by the fear that if we ever did meet again, I would only find hatred in his eyes. But that day, Drishya's eyes revealed something entirely different, something I had perhaps yearned for all along – a warmth and understanding that I desperately needed.

We were on a private bus arranged by AD heading to Tresa Village. My team and I were going travel together, and there were a few AD Group colleagues with us as well.

I settled into the rearmost seat next to the window because from that vantage point, I could catch a glimpse of Drishya's car, which was parked nearby as he prepared for the journey.

My stomach was aflutter with the thought that I would now see Drishya every day. My eyes were glued to the window, continuously scanning for any sign of him.

My heart yearned to talk to him, to apologize for my past mistakes, and to let him know that I had always been waiting for him.

I couldn't help but wonder when I would get the opportunity to speak to him again.

"Would you please move to the seat ahead? I need to speak with Dr. Arya," I heard a familiar voice say.

Startled, I quickly turned away from the window and looked ahead.

There stood Drishya in front of me.

He took the seat next to mine and began to gaze at me with his big, expressive eyes. I was completely at a loss, unsure of how to react, as if every part of my brain had suddenly stopped functioning. My cheeks started to flush, and I felt a wave of nervousness washing over me.

In an attempt to conceal my discomfort, I hastily put on my mask, hoping it would shield the emotions I couldn't contain.

With a warm smile in his face, he approached at me, and looking into my eyes, he softly said, "Trust me, I'm not infected." Gently, he pulled down my mask.

His actions felt like adding fuel to a fire, and my heart raced even faster now.

"W-what are you doing here?" I stammered, my gaze fixed on his eyes.

I wanted to look away, but I couldn't tear my eyes away from him.

"Why, can't I be here?" He lifted his chin and chuckled.

I tried to regain my composure by managing the rush of emotions running through me due to his sudden appearance and said, "It's not that, but you..." He interrupted me mid-sentence, saying, "I needed to talk to you ."

His eyes were already saying so much more than words ever could.

As the evening approached and the chill in the air began to intensify, I peered out of the window. With every mile the bus covered, the sun was gradually setting. There was an unusual sense of tranquility within me.

The Drishya was right beside me, and we both had so much to say to each other, yet silence enveloped us completely.

"How much longer until we reach?" I asked, glancing sideways at Drishya.

He had been looking at me with a soft smile all along. "Tresa village is quite far from our city, so it will be nighttime by the time we arrive," he said, still smiling.

"Oh," I replied, turning my gaze away.

At that moment, Drishya's presence beside me evoked an indescribable feeling, one that words couldn't capture.

Now, he didn't look like the 10th-grade Drishya with whom I had spent so much time, but he still didn't seem like a stranger. Even after all these years, I was able to feel at peace with him.

Drishya being close to me on that chilly evening was creating a warmth unlike any other. His sparkling eyes and his sweet smile were reminding me of our first encounter together.

I looked outside the window, and the sun was now on the verge of setting. All the birds were chirping as they made their way back to their nests, and a gentle breeze rustled through. The sky had turned a lovely shade of pink.

It felt as though the entire world had joined in my happiness today.

For those unforgettable moments, I wanted to express my gratitude to the entire universe today. It was my special day, my D-day...
