Chapter 2 (Part 6)
author
like I promised, crazy updates for u guys~
Narrator
Harry had the best morning he'd had in a long time.
Narrator
He was careful to walk a little way apart from the Dursleys so that Dudley and Piers, who were starting to get bored with the animals by lunchtime, wouldn't fall back on their favorite hobby of hitting him.
Narrator
They ate in the zoo restaurant and when Dudley had a tantrum because his knickerbocker glory wasn't big enough, Uncle Vernon bought him another one and Harry was allowed to finish the first.
Narrator
Harry felt , afterwards, that he should have known it was all too good to last.....
Narrator
After lunchtime they went to the reptile house.
Narrator
It was cool and dark in there, with lit windows all along the walls.
Narrator
Behind the glass, all sorts of lizards and snakes were crawling and slithering over bits of woods and stone.
Narrator
Dudley and Piers wanted to see huge, poisonous cobras and thick,man-crushing pythons.
Narrator
Dudley quickly found the largest snake in the place.
Narrator
It could have wrapped its body twice around Uncle Vernon's car and crushed it into a dustbin--but the moment it didn't look in the mood.
Narrator
In fact, it was fast asleep.
Narrator
Dudley stood with his nose pressed against the glass , staring at the glistening brown coils.
Narrator
Dudley was whining to his father.
Dudley Dursley(Harry's Cousin)
Make it move!
Narrator
Uncle Vernon tapped on the glass, but the snake didn't budge.
Dudley Dursley(Harry's Cousin)
*ordering * Do it again!
Narrator
Uncle Vernon rapped the glass smartly with his knuckles, but the snake just snoozed on.
Dudley Dursley(Harry's Cousin)
*giving up* This is boring...
Narrator
Dudley shuffled away.
Narrator
Harry moved in front of the tank and looked intently at the snake.
Narrator
He wouldn't have been surprised if it had died of boredom itself--no company except stupid people drumming their fingers on the glass trying to disturb it all day long.
Narrator
It was worse than having a cupboard as a bedroom, where the only visitor was Aunt Petunia hammering on the door to wake you up--atleast he got to visit the rest of the house.
Narrator
The snake suddenly opened its beady eyes .
Narrator
Slowly, very slowly, it raised its head until its eyes were on a level with Harry's.
Narrator
Then he looked quickly around to see if anyone was watching.
Narrator
He looked back at the snake and winked, too.
Narrator
The snake jerked its head towards Uncle Vernon and Dudley, then raised its eyes to the ceiling.
Narrator
It have Harry a look that plainly said:
Narrator
𝘐 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦.
Harry Potter
*muttered* I know.
Narrator
Though Harry wasn't really sure the snake could hear him.
Harry Potter
It must be really annoying.
Narrator
The snake nodded vigorously.
Harry Potter
Where do you come from, anyway?
Narrator
The snake jabbed its tail at a little sign next to the glass.
Narrator
Harry peered at it.
Narrator
𝐵𝑜𝑎 𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑡𝑜𝑟, 𝐵𝑟𝑎𝑧𝑖𝑙.
Harry Potter
Was it nice there?
Narrator
The boa constrictor jabbed its tail at the sign again and Harry read on:
Narrator
𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘻𝘰𝘰.
Harry Potter
Oh, I see--so you've never been to Brazil?
Narrator
As the snake shook its head, a deafening shout behind Harry made both of them jump.
Piers Polkiss
DUDLEY! MR DURSLEY!
Piers Polkiss
COME AND LOOK AT THIS SNAKE!
Piers Polkiss
YOU WON'T 𝐵𝐸𝐿𝐼𝐸𝑉𝐸 WHAT IT'S DOING!
