Chapter Four

Elise wasn't sure really how to feel about her cousin's comment thinking about Eric's text, she had to scroll through her brain to find a way to maybe avoid the crisis she was having. He most definitely had pulled another Riccy, she loved her very dearly though the fact was he could push too much sometimes at least he had Vega there to help balance his impatience with his patience.

“God, we have gone to school all together this time.” Strange feeling about it popped into her mind, so believing in someone’s good will was never easy. Friendships, she had shitty luck with them all her life so she didn’t want to be negative. The ups and downs with her past, it left her with no guarantees to be open or trust another. So, what was bad about keeping an unknown at arm's length or just being guarded.

One factor of this eager attitude to speak with him well made her feel weird, yet he has never been around her before. So, what sort of little epiphany did he have to ever remotely decide to come and chat with her now. Ringtone from her phone snapped her out of those little curious thoughts she had on Yasei. It was her cousin Eric calling, a much needed distraction was something that came at the right time.

Elise pleaded silently and prayed he did not bring up that guy, she just needed just someone to talk to right then. Swiping to answer the call, a pleasant calm voice started to speak on the other end of the line,”Seriously, I know he was into you though.” A groan left her lips. Why did she see where the conversation was going with Eric? Toward the topic she didn’t want to really get into or go over with him right then.

“I don’t wanna talk about that, Riccy.”She warned him, a slight growl in her voice, her warning was just that besides she had more important things to worry about. Preferably, that had nothing to do with Yasei Honpō, who she probably wouldn’t cross pass with again.

He clicks his tongue with a sigh, she knew he was going to say something profound, or a slight joke to make her less annoyed with him. Damn it, she knew it was going to work as her cousin planned too. “Even if the kid is your not a type , Lisse.” She was about to cut him off, of all things he started out with that didn’t need to be it.

“I’m not done.” He halted her speech while popping a chip in his mouth, he was chomping down on what she guessed where his snack ready barbecue pringles chips. Those were standard during his movie nights with Vega, she waited to let him continue to speak though she wanted to chuckle a little.

“I know you promised my mom, and I, you’d start meeting other people and socializing.” She felt a pang of guilt, she wasn’t really keeping her word to them. Yet, she couldn’t help it there was a goal she wanted to follow through on, yet she couldn’t lie to Eric he always saw through her.

She grumbled a little, speaking in annoyance,”He’s the worst person to talk to.” It was a major leap. He was crowded by all kinds of people, but the sheer fact he was a chaos incarnate couldn't handle it. That was what she wanted to convey to her cousin because she wasn’t ready to dive into dangerous waters.

“Look at it like this, Lisse.”Eric pointed out, his tone was relaxed but still reassuring as he continued,”You were able to speak with Vega just fine. Just talk to him, if you're not you can walk away.” Why did he have to bring that up ?

Of course, she could take with Vega because he was family now. Even then, she didn’t have a clear answer as to how she was able to chat with him openly. Maybe it was worth giving it a shot? She wasn’t sure on how to be able to go through this next step.

“Ugh, I really don’t like you right now.” Elise pouted, she glared hearing him laugh, but still could she really handle this. As if sensing her fear, he said something that made her laugh a bit.

“If he can’t respect your comfort zone. Just kick him in the balls, sometimes they gotta be kicked—well, just for the assholes of society.”His comment made her laugh, she could practically see him smiling at her reaction. Well, that wasn’t always a way to handle things though maybe it worked out depending on those moments. Guess she was really going to try and talk with Yasei, if her anxiety didn’t kick her *** first she would make an attempt.

“Glad, I could lighten the mood.”Eric started off as he nervously laughed, it was one he did to ease his tension or if he did some sort of meddling . Elise didn’t think it was anything big, yet she felt some sort of dread that surfaced in the back of her mind.

“Now, there is something I have to tell you, Lisse.” He stressed calmly, he always had her best interest at heart. She was feeling some fear due to her bubbling of nerves in her gut, yet she would not jump at the demand to know. Yes, she could do this; it wasn't going to be anything crazy at all. She had a feeling Eric did something that would leave her upset with him later.

“I did have a talk with that kid.”

That slight hesitation in his voice, yup, it made her concerned wondering what possible idiotic thing he did now. At the mention of that kid from him, she knew it was Yasei so she started to grip the counter to at least keep her calm or breath deeply. He was a risky guy, a complete unknown, but she needed to just hear him out.

“Babe, please tell me you didn’t pull a ‘ Riccy’ by meddling like usual, did you?”

As if on cue, Vega’s voice was on speaker as she set her phone down he understood her a little better than Eric at times so she felt grateful. That made her feel a tad bit better with a laugh escaping her lips again, if anything her cousin's rebuttal made it hilarious.

He was cooking, she heard the sizzling sound from the pan while he was scolding Eric, who was making his own points for his action as it slipped out.

“I’ve given him Elise's phone number..” Eric admitted , her body was frozen and still.

“What…?! ” She heard Vega chastise him for that obvious blunder, and she wanted to know if there was an agenda Yasei had.

What exactly had Eric thought by doing such a thing?
