History Repeates
...Like a bullet in my chest, You're written, bound and etched Forever in my mind...
~Timbelle
I'm standing in an unknown mansion. There are these weird men all around the house wearing black, holding guns probably from 1800s.
A middle-aged man is standing right in front of me in a black suit with two other men. Consequently, there is this really tall guy standing a little away from me on my right.
All of a sudden someone stabs me from behind. I can't feel the pain, but I just know that someone just stabbed me. I can feel the middle-aged man smirking, and that tall guy starts to panic.
I somehow manage to turn around and hold the guy who stabbed me by his neck, but he pulls the knife out and thrusts it in again which made me gasp with pain.
Furthermore, I see that tall guy trying to run towards me. Those weird men in black caught him by his hands halting him midway. "Dad, stop him," he yells. I'm about to reach for the gun in my pocket, I have no idea how I thought there would be a gun in my pocket.
But before I do that someone shoots me right in my chest. A screech leaves my mouth. One more shot in my belly, I fell on to the couch lying behind me. I hear a dark chuckle from the person who stabbed me.
Then that tall guy comes running towards me and kneeling down to my level crying out ''Alexa! Alexa! Wake up!'' I can feel his tears dripping on to my face. Then everything went black, but I can still hear him sobbing and saying "Alexa Wake up, please."
I slightly open my eyes, I can still hear someone calling me. '' Alexa! Alexa! Alexa darling Wake up!" This voice is kind of sounds familiar. Wait a minute, is it my mom's? Yes, it is my mom.
"Alexa, it's getting late wake up." Oh, now I know that wasn't the reality. It's just a nightmare that haunts me very Monday Morning. "Does my face look weird? Why are you staring at me like that? "Asks my mom breaking my chain of thoughts.'' Nothing.'' I say with a smile." Alright come downstairs." my mom says and leaves my room.
Gosh! What kind of nightmare was that. It's weird because I can't make up their faces. Every time I dream that, I try my best to watch their faces clearer. But it's of no use.
…........
''Cheers to a new start! " I say to myself clanging my plastic water bottle to the mirror. To be honest I don't think it's that exciting though. Same old school, same old subjects, and same old me in a white shirt with a black tie and a black A-line skirt in those same old pair of white sneakers. Way to start high school.
'' Good Morning Jack.'' I wish the man sitting on the couch reading a newspaper while sipping the black coffee made by my mom in an exciting tone as I am hiking down the stairs. ''Good Morning Chipmunk.'' he wishes me back with a cheeky grin plastered on his face with that nickname he gave me four years ago. He is my step-dad. The man who married my mom after my biological father dumped her when I was a 2-year-old.
This was 5 years ago. It was a bright sunny day I was an 11-year-old kid who was sulking over my mom and walking with her in the park as she kept a big secret from me.
My mom told me that my real dad left us when I was just a two-year-old because he didn't like me. But, I didn't believe that because every Monday evening a man in a black coat and Sun glasses used to come running towards me at school with a letter that is from my real dad in his hand giving it to me and running away faster than the speed of light.
I tried chasing him once but he would just disappear. I never dared to tell my mom as there would be a sentence at the end of the Letter 'DON'T TELL YOUR MOM ABOUT THIS' in all caps. It's not the only thing that stopped me from showing it to mom. I always had this gut feeling that my mom is not totally saying the truth about my biological father dumping her. So, I just ended up hiding it from her.
But, I didn't get away with that for so long. One day my mom caught me reading that letter. The moment I saw her, I tried to hide it.
But I was caught red-handed.
"Alexa, what are you hiding from me?" asked my Mom. I kept that letter behind me clutching it with my right hand. "It's n-no-no-nothing Mom," I stuttered going backwards away from her." C'mon you aren't gonna hide things from your mom. Are you going to?" she stated. I built up my courage and said, "It's not something you need to see, Mom." "What did you just say?" she barked.
I was walking backwards and she was walking towards me. I started crying and sat down. My grip on the piece of paper loosened. She snatched the Letter from me and read it. Her face was flushed with anger. "Where did you get this? " She yelled.
Then I told her every thing about that unknown man. She went crazy and told me that I'm gonna be meeting a new father and sister the next day. She even told me that we were going to move to Irvine, California with my so-called "New family".
There I was devastated by the fact that my mom had another daughter other than me and totally kept me in the dark about it. At a distance I saw a tall man with blonde hair, wearing a gray hoodie with black torn jeans and a pair of white Nike sneakers walking towards us with a girl little younger than me.
Out of the blue, she started running towards us and climbed onto my mom. Mom picked her up and started showering her face with kisses. '' I missed you so much, baby," she cooed."Me too, Mommy," the little girl replied.
That's when I realized she looked exactly like my mom. Blonde hair, big doe eyes, slim nose and plum lips. Her hair totally straight like mom.
It hurt a lot of looking at the scene. It's not like I was jealous but the fact that mom was lying to the whole got me depressed. Like man, we've been each other's comfort zone for freaking eleven years. Damn that was too long to keep such big secrets from each other.
"This is your sister I was talking about the other day." she introduced me to that little girl.
Me being an older and matured kid I said, "Hey, I'm Alexa. What's your name?" "Mom, I don't like her." she said with a disgusted face.
Ouch! That hurt. "Annie Evans where are your manners?"that man scolded. Bro! I was already feeling out of place, this so-called sister hating me had made it worse.
"Don't take it to heart, Alexa. She is just envious that she now have to share her mother," that man comforted me. "I'm Jack, Jack Evans. Nice to meet you" he chirped patting my head. I just smiled at him.
So, this was the guy on my mom's phone saved as Jack♡. Later that weekend we moved to Irvine. I was so mad at mom because then there was no way that I could receive the letters from my biological father.
I tried coxing mom to take me to my old school in hope that the unknown man with a letter from my dad would be there but she just always used to refuse because of course she is a witty woman.
I tried contacting my old friends but mom deleted all their contact numbers from my phone. So, I just gave up on finding my real dad.
