Biography
Origins
It's very likely that the Gate Guardian is the Biblical Uriel. If this is true, he guards the gateway to the Garden of Eden from trespassers and likely interacted with Adam el Asem, Eve, Lilith, SCP-073, and/or SCP-076-2. Multiple people over the eons encountered the Gate Guardian, being told to "FORGET", resulting in them losing any memory of the Gate Guardian.[1]
PREPARE
Aaron Siegel, the Founder, encountered the Gate Guardian during an expedition. Contrary to earlier encounters with humanity, the Gate Guardian instead told him to "PREPARE"; this sparked Siegel creating the SCP Foundation.[1]
Experimentation
Dubbing it SCP-001, the SCP Foundation set up Site-0 roughly 10 km (6.2 miles) away from SCP-001, where O5-14 monitors the 001 and his status in order to activate Emergency Order Patmos in the event he becomes active.
In 2004, several experiments took place. Experiment A involved sending a Class-D personnel to approach SCP-001; the subject was ordered to leave, returning to the researchers. Since the Class-D refused to return, he was terminated. Upon their death, SCP-001 obliterated the research team responsible for sending the Class-D with SCP-001-2. Experiment B involved a research robot approaching 001, which was obliterated by the being as well. Similar to B, Experiment C sent 100 research drones to approach 001. They were all destroyed at once, with the Gate Guardian "strik[ing] in all directions at once"
Experiment D involved launching a wire-guided missile towards 001, which was destroyed upon crossing the 1 km (0.6 miles) mark; at the same time, the launch site and all personnel inside were destroyed as well. Experiment E was conducted on 26 December, this time involving an ICBM fired from the SCPS Nautilus in the Indian Ocean. This resulted in 001's retaliation, which caused the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.
Experiments F and G involved sending SCP-076-2 and SCP-073 towards 001, respectively. 076-2 refused to do so despite knowing no details of the mission, while 073 did so, which resulted in something happening with the symbol on his forehead and now-classified events to occur. These failures prompted the Administrator to suspend all testing related to 001.
A signal was sent from the distant future, which scientists estimated to be from a certain date, despite initial belief that it was a hoax.[1]
Distant future
In the distant future, SCP-001 left its location, allowing the Four Horsemen to ride out from Eden. At the same time, SCP-995 breached, SCP-616 opened, and SCP-098-ARC activated. Due to the correlation with all of these events, the Foundation ordered 076-2 and 073 to be freed, all personnel to unlock and decode Emergency Order Patmos-Omega and follow the orders pertaining to the protocol, Site-19 to be secured, and all non-essential SCPs and personnel terminated. The signal was sent to the past, repeating until the signal was lost.[1]

Attributes
Containment procedures
SCP-001 is to be observed from Site 0, located over 10 km (6.2 miles) from 001. This location is only known to the current Administrator and O5-14. Should 001 become active, O5-14 is authorized to take action against the entity and immediately contact the Administrator and the rest of the O5 Council if any change in behavior is detected.
Additionally, Emergency Order Patmos algorithms are kept on site at Site 0 in the possession of a designated observer, only to be transmitted to SCP Foundation facilities in the event of 001 becoming active. When the Emergency Order is given out, this will begin Emergency Procedure PATMOS.[1]
Meta
Kills
Scientific Department personnel involved in Experiment A - Obliterated by the Gate Guardian's sword.[1]
Personnel at the launch site - Obliterated by the Gate Guardian's sword.[1]
Crew of the SCPS Nautilus - Obliterated by the Gate Guardian's sword.[1]
227,898 people - Indirectly by earthquake and tsunami; caused by the Gate Guardian's retaliation against the SCPS Nautilus.[1]
