Genesis

The time has come to face everyone, and the gossip doesn't wait. I dress in a knee-length black dress, with a three-quarter sleeve white blazer, heels, and light makeup. I leave my hair down, get in my car, and head to the company.

As I enter, everyone looks at me, and the murmurs are immediate. I walk confidently with my head held high.

I enter the elevator and go to the top floor where my office is. My secretary, Alejandra, is waiting for me, as always very efficient and attentive to all my needs.

Alejandra: Miss, your father, brother, and mother are waiting for you inside.

Genesis: Thanks, Ale.

I enter the office, and there they were, all staring at me.

Carol: Daughter, we were worried.

Richard: You should have called.

Arturo: Little sister.

Genesis: Okay, calm down. First of all, I just wanted to disappear and be alone, forgive me for not calling and worrying you.

I'm fine, there's a lot of work to do.

Arturo: Good, that sums it up, now let's get to work.

As always, my brother knows when I don't want to talk and comes to my defense.

Carol: Honey, call me if you need anything.

Genesis: Yes, Mom.

I look at the plans and new projects that have come in. One catches my attention; it's to renovate an elementary school where low-income children go. I immediately start working on that charity project, without realizing the time until Alejandra comes in with a lunch in her hands.

Alejandra: As always, very busy. Come eat something and let's talk a little.

Genesis: Thanks, Ale, so attentive as always.

Alejandra: And how was the Caribbean?

Genesis: Spectacular, especially the hottie I met on the last night who gave me the best night ever.

Alejandra: Wow, where is Genesis? I don't recognize her.

We hang out for a while. Alejandra is not just a secretary, she is a great friend. We joined the company together and have been working together for years. We became friends and tell each other everything.

One month later

Genesis

The school project is going great, the children will have the best school. I personally took care of the project, it was very motivating.

I haven't been feeling very well, I'm tired, and the vomiting and dizziness won't leave me alone. When I arrive at the company, Alejandra is waiting as always. I enter my office, and she's behind me.

I look at her hands…

Alejandra: Don't say anything, go into the bathroom and do it.

Genesis: You think?

I take the little box from her hands and go to the bathroom, I take the test and...

Genesis: Ah!!!!!!

Alejandra enters the bathroom and sees the result: that Adonis not only gave you the best night but also a souvenir.

Genesis: And what will I do now?

Alejandra: Whatever you do, I'll be by your side.

Genesis: Thanks.

When I get to the apartment, I throw myself on the bed, I put my hands on my belly.

Genesis: Okay, little souvenir, be very patient with your mother, be good.

It's Saturday and, as always, family day at my parents' house.
