Episode 22

ARON RETURNED TO THE CAR. He removed the gun he carried behind him, inside his pants, returning it to the glove compartment. He turned the key in the ignition, starting the vehicle. As soon as he stopped at the light, he let out a breath through his nose. This wasn't the time he managed to execute the plan he had in mind.

ARON — Shit!

He hit the steering wheel with his fist, and unintentionally honked the horn.

ARON — Crap!

As soon as the light turned green, he continued until he reached Infante Dom Henrique Avenue to accelerate — in order to unleash his rage on the adrenaline. He yelled:

ARON — What's his is still kept safe. He won't get out of this unscathed… He won't.

His gaze became dangerously fixed as he stepped on the accelerator.

...****************...

HUGO AND DAVID WERE RIDING their bicycles along the Beira Mar, practically side by side. It was a beautiful, sunny day. They laughed as they tried to pass each other. Until they stopped at a coconut water stand. They bought one each.

HUGO — I don't remember the last time I did this: taking a day to ride around.

David laughed, sipping his coconut water through a straw.

DAVID — I don't remember either! It must have been a little over three years ago, or so.

HUGO — The good thing is you never forget how.

DAVID — Just like sex.

Hugo laughed, patting him on the shoulder. David laughed along.

DAVID — But it's true!

HUGO — I didn't say it wasn't.

There was a moment of silence. Now, Hugo and David returned their bikes at the first point they found and headed to a kiosk further on. They ordered some juice. Once they settled in, David decided to start the subject.
