The air in the castle was thick with tension. Servants tiptoed around, wary of the icy silence between their King and Queen. It was unlike Erudian and Via to let their disagreements linger, but this time, the fight had been monumental. Neither spoke a word to the other, and when they crossed paths, they would immediately turn and walk in opposite directions without even a glance.
Yet, even in their stubbornness, they were like children sulking over a lost piece of candy
At breakfast, Via sat at one end of the table, deliberately ignoring Erudian as she sipped her tea. Erudian, on the other hand, kept stealing glances at her, frowning when she refused to meet his gaze. When she struggled to reach the jam jar, he instinctively reached over to pass it to her, but she snatched it away without a word, her nose in the air
Later that day, Via caught sight of Erudian in the garden, where he seemed to be giving strict instructions to the gardener. She lingered behind a pillar, pretending to examine a flower, but her eyes kept drifting to him. Erudian noticed her but pretended not to, instead deliberately taking longer than necessary to finish his conversation, hoping she’d approach him. She didn’t.
