Dream or Reality?

I’m not sure when it was that I fell back asleep but a bright light awoke me. Where was this light coming from? I opened my eyes, but it took me a while to adjust to the bright lights. I had been in the dark for so long that the light made my eyes burn and water. After a few minutes I was able to see my surroundings again. I could clearly see where the light had been coming from. The boards over the windows had been removed. When was this done and for what reason. Did I really stay asleep while Raga was removing the boards, have I really let my guard down to this point. How could I sleep so soundly with the commotion going on, there is no way he removed them without making a sound. Whatever the reason may be I need to be more alert, he is beginning to act strange again. It feels as if he is giving me more freedom little by little. I’m not sure if this is a sick joke to make me want to leave more but if that is the case it is definitely working.

I walk up to the window and look out. I can see a house in the distance but I can’t quite make it out. It’s strange why is it so dark where the house is, isn’t it day time? It’s odd this is strangely similar to my dream. Could it be that I am still asleep and having another dream? *Crash* What was that? I quickly turn around and I see Raga standing in the door way. He is staring at me with a shocked look on his face. The glass of water that he was holding in one hand was now shattered into pieces on the ground. The expression on his face made me uneasy and the silence that filled the room wasn’t doing my nerves any good either. In a low voice I can hear him say, “I am for certain now.” He then turned and left. I have no idea what it is that he meant when he said that but strangely I don’t feel the uneasiness anymore.

I walked toward the broken glass and gathered its pieces. There was no trash can in the room so I decided to pile them up against the wall. I returned to my bed and got out a book which I had found in the night stand a few days ago. I began to read even though I never really liked to do so. I always found reading to be pointless and boring, I mean who wants to read about some girls love story or other bull crap. I guess things have changed now that I have nothing else to do. I now find enjoyment in reading books. This story is about a boy who was raised by wolves. One day some hunters came across the boy and took him into society. They tried to educate him in school and help him to learn but it that didn’t go very well. The boy didn’t fit in and the other kids would torment and bully him for his strange looks and behavior. The boy had long hair and a girlish complexion. This reminded me of my past. I have always took after my mother in my looks even though I was a boy. To add to that my name is also that of a girl. Melody I have always hated this name. Why must my parents give me a girls name? In school I was bullied endlessly for because of this. Other guys would never play with me and pushed me away telling me to play with my own kind. I was called gay among other hurtful names. The girls would also shun me because they said none of the guys would ever pay attention to them because they were to hung up on me. I couldn’t understand why they would think that because all the boys ever did was tease and bully me. I guess maybe from their point of view it was different. I continued to read the book hoping that the boy’s life would be different from mine. I was just hoping that his story would have a happy ending. Then just maybe his happy ending could give me a sliver of hope that my live would take a turn for the better.

It was now around the time that Raga would be bringing me my food. I waited for several minutes but he never arrived. It’s strange he has been feeding me every day. Did he just forget about me today? That can’t be it right? Then is he mad at me? What did I do though? Oh well this isn’t the first time I’ve been without food it will be okay. The time went by slowly but night eventually fell. I try to fall asleep but the pain in my stomach from my hunger kept me awake. I decided to get up and I walked over to the window to see if I could possibly see the house in the distance clearly now. Sure enough, there it stood clear as a picture. It strangely resembled the house I was staying in in my dream. Things just keep getting stranger and stranger. I’m not sure what to think of this turn of events but one thing is for sure staying here is only going to make me lose my mind.
