Chapter 10 - It is My Honor

Leigh held her dress as she followed the King's quick pace, her hair bounced up and down. This was very exciting!

She was running down a hallway with the future King, and they were almost late to the ballroom dance before the ceremony began. She had a big grin on her face, her eyes landed on Rein's back and her smile quickly faltered. Her feet started to feel heavy and her heart started to race.

Just by staring at his back she could notice how much he might've been hiding, it scared her. She could hear her heels clack on the ground.

Why did it feel as if the hallway got longer the more her eyes lingered on him? Leigh tripped on the inside of the dresses ruffles, Rein quickly stopped and turned around at the right moment.

He caught her

She was in his arms, her hands tightly grabbed his aristocrat like jacket. Leigh steadied herself.

"I'm sorry.." Those were the only words she could utter, Rein couldn't help but stare deeply in her eyes.

His poor pet!

She wouldn't have to worry he would fix her clumsiness and poor etiquette soon. He made sure Leigh could stand straight. "Are you okay? Ready to run again?" Leigh smiled at Rein's mellow words.

"Yep!" He grabbed her hand and they started rushing down the hall, it soon came to an end. They entered the ballroom area hand in hand.

Everyone stared at the pair, whispers started to echo throughout the room.

"Is that his mistress?" "Who is she? "She's a beauty!"

"Was she the new Queen?"

Kubia's hands clenched, she was sitting down at the many tables placed around the room. "Why was he holding her hand?" This echoed throughout her mind.

Aola watched Kubia's expression and grinned with delight. Finard watched his sisters wicked smile "You're turning into Rein, stop hanging out with him" His voice was strong and demanding, Aola glanced at her brother rolling her eyes. "If you must know, I've been spending most of my time with Elder Sister Jean. Anyway! I suggest you marry soon before you loose your rank..." Aola's grin turned into a frown. Finard's eyes welled with anger.

Rein's hand quickly let go of the girls hand, Leigh hastily placed her hands by her side walking into the ballroom awkwardly. She spotted Kubia and rushed over to her table.

"Greetings Kubia," Leigh curtsied "How has you're afternoon been so far?" The girl took a seat on the opposite side facing Kubia.

Kubias clenched hands soon let loose, she let out a irritated groan. "I'm pretty sure you remember the discussion we had earlier" her voice was deeply annoyed. Leigh's gaze shifted to the server who came to offer a glass of red wine. "Drinks Ladies?" Kubia gladly took the offer, Leigh smiled and did the same.

The server left the two girls alone, The aqua girls eyes followed the server and soon gazed in Kubias direction. "I-I-I do remember...It wasn't like what you thought it was Kubia"

Leigh said while she hesitantly took a sip of the wine,

Former Queen Mina stood by her husbands son, she glanced from the side of her eye then focused forward on the crowd. "Rein, you're mother would be so proud" She said with a soft smile. Rein's cold eyes didn't falter, he continued to smile falsely greeted people "I know she would"

The evening had arrived and Rein sat in a carriage with Leigh as they made their way to the center of town, their the ceremony would be held in front of the city.

On Leigh's part she felt as if it was a risky move, the future King could easily be assassinated by someone at this rate if they continued to do ceremonies like these out in the open.

Rein looked out the carriage window for a moment before he glanced at the nervous girl. A smile crept up his face, she was staring at him.

What a curious little kitty...

Leigh flinched and quickly looked away, she felt a blush follow from the silent situation.

"Why do you tempt me with your seductive eyes you handsome King!!" (*ﾟvﾟ*)

Leigh tried her best to keep her thoughts quiet. Rein looked entertained by her expressions as the carriage soon stopped.

A servant opened the door and Rein gestured for the girl to be escorted out first, Leigh had smiled and the servant grabbed her hand leading her out gently. Rein exited after her, the crowd went wild eyeing the royalty.

The former Queen, her step-son, and the daughters of the former king.

They stood in the large circle decorated with banners, flower petals, and fairy lights. The center had a pedestal that stood high and was big enough for two people to stand on with no problems. It had a circular stairs that allowed them to climb to the top.

A elegant courier held a mahogany wooden box in his hand, the outside had twirls of gold decorated around it. He opened it revealing a wonderful golden crown.

Leigh was in awe at the sight of the crown, the former queen walked up to the courier taking the crown out of the box and she smiled at Rein gesturing for him to begin climbing up the stairs of the outside pedestal

Rein's walk was entrancing, he smoothly headed over to the stairs and walked up promptly. The former queen's smile was forced as soon her title would be gone, their was no clue to what he would do to her.

She began climbing the stairs in her refined dress, crown in hand, she started to tremble a bit as she reached the top.

Leigh watched from the side only a few feet apart from his family, two faces watched proudly while one was disgusted by the sight. The wind blew gently across their face as the summer air was delicate.

Rein had been on one knee as his step mother was above him, she held the crown in her hands as the night sky was eminent.

"You're Father was dear to my heart, he was a kind, genuine, and honest man, it is my honor to bestow upon you his legacy" Queen Mina said as the crown had finally been placed gently on Rein's head.

The crowd began to clap loudly they went wild and started cheering. Leigh clapped, her eyes surveyed the King.

"Huh I guess I didn't have to do anything"

Kubia watched with the other royalty, eyeing down Leigh, she clapped hardly making her hands red.

"That bitch..."
