Episode 5

“Zoe, you should calm down. We will talk about this later” he looked at the closed door one last time

before he went back to his room. On the other side of the room, Why? He is my uncle. I should be happy

for him. But why am I feeling sad? Why is my heart aching so much?

She couldn’t find an answer no matter how much she thought. Zoey lays down on her bed covering her

crying face.

Some days passed and Zoey’s condition wasn’t getting any better. She was silent all the time and she

avoided meeting Hardin all this while. She came home before he came and left after he left. She hid in her

room. Rose was watching this change in Zoey and she couldn’t watch her becoming like that, so she

decided to ask her what is the reason for her abnormal behavior.

“Zoey, come with me”, Rose grabbed Zoey’s hand and took her to the storage room of their company so

that they could get some private space.

“Tell me now, what’s wrong with you. You have been acting strange recently”. Zoey looked at Rose and

stood there silently.

“Uncle is getting engaged”. She spoke after a while.

“Wow, isn’t that a happy thing, shouldn’t you be happy now”. Rose didn’t know why she was sad.

She

should be happy for her uncle. She looked at Zoey who was already looking like a walking dead.

Suddenly she broke down.

“Zoey, what happened?” Rose held her before she fell down. She was crying her eyes out. Why is she

crying like this? Isn’t getting engaged a piece of happy news? Oh god! Don’t tell me this girl fell in love

with her uncle. Rose looked at Zoey with a scare.

“Zoey” Rose called her after 10 minutes which she felt like an eternity. She lifted her head. Her eyes were

swollen and red.

“Do you love him?” Rose looked at her to understand what was going on in her head. She was shocked

for a while then she nodded silently without making any eye contact with Rose.

Oh my god! Why did it

become like this? Rose held her tight so that she could feel better.

Rose was caught in a dilemma. She had always been there with Zoey for the past eight years. Zoey was

always optimistic and practical. She always had solutions whenever Rose was in confusion. But now Rose

didn’t know what to do with her. It is something with which she cannot interfere. It’s about her uncle. She

could have done something if it was any other guy. But to think back… wasn’t it obvious, the smile she

had plastered on her face whenever she got a call or message from him? How her eyes light up when she

talks about him. Rose felt that she was stupid not to understand Zoey.

“Zoey, it’s alright. Listen to me, you can’t stay like this. Don’t you know that your uncle will be upset

seeing you like this?”
