Chapter15 - Hangover

I woke with a terrible headache, I try to recollect the memory from yesterday night.but its hazy. I remember drinking and dancing with Hannah and Bob. I remember that I tripped, then the thought of it, I removed the blanket and confirmed my ankle is fine. Thank God. I saw the two aspirin with a glass of water with a closed lid on the bedside table. It could have been Jack who put it there who else could it be. I can't believe I slept in tight jeans. And the time is showing half-past eight, Oh god, I missed Office today. I took off as I was already late and a killer headache with a hangover. I try to recollect what happened yesterday, I remember someone carrying me on a shoulder that is a vague memory other than that nothing. When I try to remember my headache is killing me. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, my face is fully ruined by mascara and eyeliner. I showered and wore a clean dress and took my phone as I was checking Instagram while entering into the kitchen. The person behind the fridge made me jump two feet away.

It was Jack, "Don't you have office today, I asked?" as I slip the orange juice from the cartoon to the glass. "No, I took off." He continued what he was doing before which is rummaging the fridge.

"I want to talk about yesterday afternoon," he said without make any eye contact with me. I should have guessed it already.

"I'm sorry, I have no idea why I did it, But it won't happen again. I promise. Can we forget that and go back to normal?" I said before he even start to say anything and the situation becomes any awkward than already it is.

He nodded "Okay", he sounded half disappointed half relieved.

"How is your hangover now?" he asked me as he handed over the cereals to me. I took the cereal and put it in a milk bowl and added milk to it.

"It's killing me," I couldn't see his eyes any longer. I keep my heads down as I focused on the cereal bowl most. "I don't remember much from last night, except someone carrying me to the car after I passed out, care to tell me what all the silly this I did?"

He didn't say anything, as he took the eggs from the fridge and making an omelet. When he stays quiet for a few minutes I started again. "C'mon, isn't a time to talk lesson for getting drunk until I passed out. Making a scene, Not behaving myself. C'mon, you always say something. Why not now?" I don't know why I'm firing the words to him. But I can't control myself. I can bear the scolding and lessons from him rather than the awkward silence between us.

'You are "21, the legal age to drink", How can I say anything to you' he said quoting 21 legal age to drink in the air. Now its time for him to fire the words.

I stayed silent, I don't know what to say. "You don't have to hide anything, I don't want you to get into any trouble. That's all. I never wanted to control you. I was just worried." His voice shifted from harsh to sweet.

"I know, I just wanted to drink and get wasted. I might have said things which I don't mean it. I was drunk. I know you never wanted to control me and I also understand your big brother's responsibilities. " I said still not looking into him.

"Take rest, I put lemon in the lemon, it will help your hangover. I have some work, I'll be back in the evening. Don't wait for me on lunch" he left with his bike key.

I had nothing to do today, Merlin called me and asked the reason not coming office. I explained everything, the party, getting wasted, passed out, hangover and killer headache. She laughed so loud that she had to say sorry for whoever sits near to her. She said she missed the opportunity of me seeing got drunk and wasted. I told her I will tell her if I have ever planned to get wasted and then she can enjoy all.

At eleven I called home, talked to Mother, Father, and Adam. His birthday is coming Sunday. We already planned to go to my grandfather's home. Now I'm not sure whether Jack will come or not. he never missed any family events. But now, I fell something changed and I'm the cause of it.

I cooked and eat lunch and slept on the couch as I was watching the Ice Age on TV.

I woke up to the sound of the neighbor's apartment. They moved here yesterday. I took the garbage from the kitchen and went downstairs to put it in the trash.

Stephen chooses the same time as me. "hey, beautiful?" he flirted. I rolled my eyes and said "hey.".

"Figured no office today, huh?" he asked.

"Yeah" I confirmed and walked to the elevator. He came with me, "Today sun is not shinning, Now I know why?" he said with a full smile and expecting me to ask Why.

And I did "Why?". He said, "Because you were sleeping."

"Oh my god, will you ever stop?" I said annoyed.

"Will, you ever stop looking incredibly beautiful?" He asked.

I shoot him a glare. And I ignored his witty comment

"I take that as a No. So, No. I don't stop either." he smirked. I don't know how to escape from this guy. He is not bad or something. He is nice, funny, he flirts and he has nice figures too, Not anything compared to Jack. Oh God, I should stop comparing any guys who come to me with him. I wanted my heart to know that we are impossible to be together and I want to try really hard to fall in love with someone else.

"Was it only me who you humiliate this much or every girl you see?" I asked very seriously.

"No, First, I don't humiliate you. Second, Only you." He replied which makes me roll my eyes even more

"Will you go out with me, like tonight?" I asked Stephen. He is surprised as I'm I don't know why I asked it but now I did it, I have to deal with it.

He froze in a place when the elevator door opens we both came out as it is our floor. Stephen is living on the opposite left of our apartment. His apartment at the right side corner and ours is on the left side of the apartment. "Was is a No?" I asked again.

"I was so shocked, When and where? I couldn't believe you asked me out after you refused to go out with me for a year. I was astonished. That's it." He said fast as he gonna passed out any time soon.

"Astonished, the word is too much to describe I guess. And you can choose when and where. I want to be back home before 10. I have office tomorrow not to miss."

"Okay, I can choose anywhere, right?" he asked with an eyebrow raised.

"You are not planning on murdering me, right?" I said sarcastically as his expression is quite not easy to read.

"No, definitely not. I'm just planning a nice date. Give me your number." He said as he took his phone from his pocket and ready to punch it and store it. I took his phone and dialed my number and ended when it rang twice and saved my name as "Don't push ur luck."

He scoffed when he sees the name on his phone. "Seriously?"

"Yes, Maybe it's because I wanted to get rid of you, and the only way is to show you how bad and ugly I'm," I said.

"You can't be any of that," he stated. He is nice, but still, I don't trust him. But I want to give it a try.

"I will call you at seven If its okay for you?" I asked while I opened my apartment door.

"Sure, But you have only 50 minutes, Do girls need more time to impress their date on the date. Not that you need any, I'm already impressed in your night pant and t-shirt. But just maybe.." he trailed off when he took a complete look from hair to toe.

"That's a lot more time for me, decide the place where we can have good food, That's all I care," I said.

"Sure, You will never forget this date," he said, "In a good way" he added after the suspicious I shoot.

I took a quick shower and washed my hair. I put jeans with a V neck pink blouse, Not too low. It took more time to dry my hair. this is the one thing I hate having long and thick hair.

After I brushed my hair soft, my phone buzzed with a message from an unknown number.

Sushi or Italian?

It said, from the question I have realized it is from Stephen. I have never tried sushi as I only eat fish and chicken, nothing else. But I wanted to try.

Sushi. I replied back. At sharp seven there was a knock on the door. He is wearing a black jean and white t-shirt and his blonde hair perfectly combed, He even shaved his face, it's not the same as it was an hour ago. It really took this date very seriously. His sea-blue eyes are so bright and with the blonde hair and slim build, he is handsome. He gave the white rose to me which he was hiding. I took a single rose he gave and invited him in.

"I'm all ready, we can go, he paced the apartment from Hall, I took my purse and the cellphone from the charger to leave." When we were ready to leave, Jack came and exchanged a look meaning what is he doing here?

"We are going on a date, Don't wait for me." I nodded Stephen to come with me.

"I need to talk to you," Jack said as he took my hand and looking at Stephen to wait outside. uh-oh. Now its time for another lesson about how to be careful.

I nodded towards the door to Stephen to go, he left after sharing a look between me and Jack.

One me and Jack alone in the apartment, he left my hand. "You remember how to kick balls where it's not there where it should be right?" He said in sarcastic words but meaning every word. I nodded and turned the laugh to cough.

"Good, have a nice diner. he hugged me and kissed in the temple. Don't forget to call me If you ditched him in the middle." he mockery.

"Not planning on ditching," I said as I left. Stephen is laying his head and folding one leg on the wall looking so tensed.

"Chill, He is not cannibalism, He won't eat you," I said laughing.

"Or kill you unless you are not planning to send me back within one piece and alive"

"I thought you already ditched me," he said by looking at my hands. I took his hands, "Not planning on that." "At least not today" I added.

"Come on, will go I only have 2 hours 54 minutes," he said by looking at his watch.

"Then, we shouldn't be wasting." It took 30 minutes to reach the place. It not a huge restaurant or a small one, it's not much crowded and it is decent. He opened the door for me, I rolled my eyes.

"C'mon, Let me be a man for you. Please" he said in a sweet voice with a puppy dog voice, which no one can else resist. I gave him my hands to take and we walked side by side with hands holding. Somehow I felt uncomfortable. But I didn't say and took my hands from him. He asked a waiter table number by his name and he showed us the table.

"Here, This is the best sushi place I found in the whole San Fransisco." He said handing the menu card to me. I really don't know what to order so I just choose food from a third page very randomly. And the waiter left us alone after he took the order.
