Chapter 8

After the Emperor visited the Wen's mansion, the old General quickly called for his first wife, Lady Ping.

"My dear, what was the reason for the Emperor's visit this time?" Lady Ping asked as she poured him a medicinal tea.

The old general looked at his old wife. She hasn't moved on from Yue's disappearance and has been grieving for the past 5 years.

"The Emperor wishes to bestow us the seat of the future Empress," he said.

As soon as she heard what her husband said, she paused for a moment. Her daughter, Yueliang, was supposed to be the Empress. She dedicated her life in teaching Yueliang that ways of the Imperial Palace only to be taken away by the Heavenly Father Emperor.

Tears slowly fell down her cheeks. But she knew... she knew in her heart that it was time to move on and let her go so she gently wiped away her tears and sat down beside her husband.

"I will teach Fang what I have taught Yue. Please don't worry about anything and only focus on getting better," Lady Ping said as she tucked her husband in.

After making sure that the old General Hu has rested, she left to go to Qing's mansion to discuss Fang's future.

"What brings you here, Lady Ping?" Lady Qing asked as soon as she received Lady Ping in her mansion.

"I suppose you have heard that the Emperor has visited the General," she said. "Would you like to know what they discussed about?"

Surprised from the news that the first lady has, she quickly made the servants leave.

After settling down, the two ladies faced each other. Lady Qing fidgeted at the unknown news that the first wife has.

"The Emperor would like to bestow the seat of the future Empress to our family," Lady Ping said as she gently sipped her tea. "Since Yueliang vanished, Lady Fang is the second most suitable for the title."

The second wife's cup fell down as she was caught off-guard by the sudden news. Her lifelong wish was going to be fulfilled now, to make her daughter the Empress of the Li Empire.

But the crown prince is yet to be decided.

"But... who will my Fang marry? The crown prince is yet to be decided as the other prince has gone to war," Lady Qing asked.

"The one who will decide on that is the Emperor himself. What we must do first is to teach Fang the ways of the Imperial Palace as what I have taught Yue," Lady Ping answered. It was important that they start immediately as Fang was almost as opposite to Yue.

Lady Fang has always been the one with a temper. She couldn't control her anger and her behavior has always been reckless. She was rude to anyone below her. It was difficult to teach her and almost all of her teachers have given up on her.

"Lady Ping, please do whatever you can to discipline my daughter as I raised her very differently. Mold her to become the future mother of this nation," Lady Qing smiled.

Lady Qing has always envied Lady Ping and Yue. But when Yue was taken by the Heavenly Father Emperor, almost everything about her changed. But her ambition still remains.

"I wish to teach her together with you, Lady Qing. I'm afraid Fang would only rebel if I teach her alone," Lady Ping said.

Lady Qing smiled at her and nodded.

"Then... I will help you in any way I can, Lady Ping," Lady Qing smiled.
