At the age of ten, the nameless boy changed over the years. He was cold, didn't show much emotion, and was always on guard. He never asked to play with the other boys or girls his age.
All he ever did was read in the library or run in the forest at the edge of his village.
The boy played and played by himself in the forest until one day he saw an injured wolf.
The wolf was black with red gems as eyes. The wolf's left back leg was caught in a hunter's trap.
The wolf growled and barked, trying to scare away the nameless boy but the boy didn't leave. He sat there waiting till the wolf was calm again.
The wolf watched the boy curiously as the boy inched closer towards him.
The boy whispered useless words, trying to keep the wolf calm.
"Your family is probably worried about you," "I'll help you so stay calm," "You're beautiful," The boy finally got close enough to the wolf and opened the hunter's trap, releasing the wolf's leg.
The wolf didn't run away but stayed there, laying down on the ground.
The boy studied the wolf for a long while then lay next to him.
"You look sad and lonely, I am sad and lonely too, do you want to be friends?" The nameless boy asked the wolf.
The wolf didn't answer but listened to the boy's soothing voice.
The night was starting to fall upon them so the boy made a shelter and promised to be back the next day.
The wolf watched the boy's figure as he ran down the hill and disappeared.
Just as he promised, the boy came looking for the wolf the next day. He found the wolf waiting for him exactly where he left him the day before.
The only different thing was the boy's right cheek was badly bruised. But the boy still smiled and greeted the wolf, happy he didn't leave yet.
He gave the wolf his lunch, the only meal he gets. The wolf ate the meal and fell asleep near the boy.
The two spent a month together until one day when the boy went up the mountain to see the wolf, the wolf wasn't there anymore.
The boy sat in the shelter he made for the wolf and cried, he cried until he couldn't anymore and fell asleep there.
He was devasted, his only friend he ever made had left him. He never felt this sad before.
He promised himself that day on, that he would never love anyone or have expectations anymore. Because who could love a hybrid?
The boy grew up more and soon he was sixteen.
The boy was handsome and a genius. He still had no name, but he was fine with that because he didn't have anyone he wanted to call his name.
Soon the boys father came home and called him to his office.
