Chapter 2

Li Mei’s POV

“Li! I’m so glad I’m back! We HAVE to go on a girls’ night out soon!” Addison squeals.

“Yup. I just lost my appetite.” I say, getting up and throwing what was left of my lunch in the trash can. Wang Yuan gets up and follows me.

“While we’re at it, why not throw Addison in this trash can as well?” He asks, innocently.

“Ok, ok. Come on, let’s go to class.” I laugh.

I head to class with Wang Yuan. We have art class right now, Qin Qin and Qian Xi have reading, and Junkai and Addison have science.

Wang Yuan and I take our seats next to each other.

Immediately, Makayla comes and takes the last seat at our table.

“Yuan Yuan! Finally, we have a seat by ourselves.” She sighed while dreamily gazing at Wang Yuan.

I chuckled as Mr. Chen (AKA my favorite teacher) gave is the instructions for the day. We were gonna be painting dragons today. I tied my painting apron around my waist and got some paintbrushes. I twisted open the green tube of paint and started on the body of my dragon.

Wang Yuan tried to unscrew the red tube of paint which was unfortunately stuck.

He finally got it open but accidentally squirted some paint onto my paper which landed like tiny red dots.

“Wang Yuan! You got red paint all over my paper!” I groaned, annoyed.

“Hey! It’s not ALL over your paper! And besides, it looks nice. Now it looks like tiny red confetti raining down from the sky onto your dragon!” He laughs.

“Exactly! Show Wang Yuan some respect! He just made you ugly little painting much better!” Makayla says, crossing her arms.

I took a deep breath and continued on my painting.

“Li Mei! What a wonderful painting! I like the touch of red, it brings out the lovely color of your dragon!” Mr. Chen smiles.

“Thank you.” I reply as Wang Yuan gives me a smirk. I stick my tongue out at him.

“So... Wang Yuan. I was thinking about going to the park after school today, want to come with me?” Makayla asks.

“Uh... I’ve got detention with Xiao Li after school today.” Wang Yuan answers.

‘No! Ugh. Why’d you have to include my name?’ I think.

“Oh, that’s alright. I can wait until your detention is over.” She replies with a wink.

“Uh... I’m hanging out with my friends after my detention is over.” He says hesitantly, trying to think of an excuse.

“I can hang out WITH your friends.” She sighs, dreamily.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

The school bell rings.

“What do you know! Time for gym! Bye!” Wang Yuan says, grabbing my arm and pulling me out with him.

“Saved by the bell.” He sighs with relief while we head to gym.

We meet up with the others.

“Xiao Li!” I hear Qin Qin’s voice yell as Wang Yuan and I enter the gym.

We walk over to Qin Qin who is also with Junkai and Qian Xi.
