Handsome, Let's Make A Baby!
Chapter 5 - Revelations
I sat down at a table in my regular coffee shop, staring at the letter.
The handwriting on the front, I recognised it immediately.
It was my Grandmother's, the only soul of this Earth who looked after me right.
I opened the letter, the paper folded sharply, the corners bent.
"Dear Juliette,
Your mother should pass this onto you on your 18th birthday. She was never one to be serious, so at least you'll take this letter to heart if it happens to be from me."
"Our family bloodline is cursed. After making a deal with a man named "Zade" in the early 1600's, some of us like myself and you gained abilities."
"It was amazing for a while, up until a girl with your brains decided to not marry until she was 30. It was never shocking, but her smarts compensated for it."
"On the eve of her 25th birthday, they found her body in her apartment. It seemed to have dissolved, as if her body had turned into acid. And so, a few generations later, the same thing happened."
"Those who were exempt were those who gave birth to a child before their 25th birthday."
Juliette Winters
What on earth...
"In order to live, and you must live, you have to give birth to a child before you turn 25."
I've known my Grandmother for most of my life. She was the one who looked after me while my mother was out getting drunk.
The only person who could rival my mind was hers.
Until she died at the age of 68.
Cancer. She fought bravely but couldn't battle it.
"I know you. How could this make sense? I felt the same way as you, but I witnessed it myself. My sister dissolving in front of my eyes. I had to witness it to believe it."
"Please, Juliette. Find a good man willing to marry you and have kids. Don't be like your mother and sleep with her high school boyfriend just for the sake of it."
"You are a special child. Cherish it."
"Yours truly,
Your Grandmama."
In that moment, I abandoned any logic that my brain was telling me.
She would never joke about this.
And it was true that her sister died when she was 25. It was something that Grandma hardly ever brought up.
For her to bring up her death in this letter...
It must be true. I don't know how, but it must be.
I shuffled the envelope around and suddenly found a necklace inside.
It was her necklace. She never took it off.
She told me that it was a magical necklace that allowed you to dive into your most deep thoughts.

Don't worry, I'll have a baby.
Liam Thorne
Well, colour me surprised.
I jumped, suddenly turning my head to see the one person I hated the most.
Liam Thorne
You want a baby? My, you wouldn't be trying to date one of my employees now, would you?
