Just A Little Less Ordinary

Just A Little Less Ordinary

Chapter 1

Min Kai’s POV

I pushed the filthy rag from my mouth with my teeth and tongue as I tried to slide it out. Whoever tied this shit can’t tie. I swiftly moved one hand and rubbed it against the other in order to release myself from the ropes hold. Good thing multi tasking was one of my main expertise. I managed to slip my hands out of the rope and looked around the dark ware house. Ok what the actual **** was going on? What am I supposed to do now? I can’t yell for help so let me just find my way out. Nope... nothing new hurts. This is not a moment to freak out. I must remain calm. I breathed slowly as I took off the rag from my mouth. This is a little bit weird... there’s no one around what the hell? Is this how stupid kidnappers can be? Why would they leave their victims alone? Why did they kidnap me in the first place? I stared around the room. Darkness- that’s all you can see. I began to wander around the ware house when I remembered one key information... where am I? I felt the inside of my pocket to see if I had my gadget with me... good thing I put it in my inside pockets. But there was nothing. Ok, what did I expect? I decided it was best to just walk out instead. So that’s exactly what I did. I bumped on some empty cans but had little to no injuries. Every single time I would bump into something that would create a loud noise, I creeped away slowly and waited for an all clear. This was by far the creepiest thing I’ve been through. I felt the urge to pee due to the anxious feeling building up in the pit of my stomach. I finally found the exit and realized that I wasn’t that far away from home. Well, at least these bullies did not touch me or anything. Just another day of trying and failing to live peacefully.

My walk home felt lonely but I was sort of used to it... it was something I had to be immune to. Life had given me a vaccine that hurt like hell but my body was already creating antibodies sprouting everywhere. I was tougher. The cold wind blowed as if accompanying me through the streets and into the three story house I called home. My body shivered as I appeared in front of the door... I just couldn’t hold it in anymore, so I just knelt down in front of the door and succumbed to my pain. No one saw this broken me and I was happy. No one knew how much I hurt and that’s fine. I just have to smile and act all composed and aloof. One day it’ll be fine; one day I won’t wake up in a ware house or street after a good beating for being so fucking shy and different. I knelt on the steps and let my thoughts diffuse with the wind. Someday it’ll be fine... someday just not today...

I entered the house after wiping my tears and went straight for a bath. It’s not like I had to say good night to anyone... I shut the front door quite loudly and climbed up the white colored stairs. The whole internal decorations was white... pissing me off at how the color and the actual life style contrasted each other in such a horrid way that made it look like a disgusting pile of lies. I hurried up the stairs and went straight into the shower. I stripped off my clothes and took a warm bath. Once I was done, I headed out in a towel and started finding some fresh clothes to put on. I placed them on the bed and went to the walk in closet to find some first aid kit I had bought a long time ago. I applied medication to the fresh cuts and bruises that decorated my body; reminding me of how shitty the day actually was. I turned off the light as I heard the home door open as my father and mother made their way home. I heard them walk up the stairs and enter their room. I didn’t feel like eating so I just tried to fall asleep. I had closed my eyes for a while now and I heard my room door open.

“How was your day, sweety?” My mom’s sweet voice rippled through the walls.

“We know you aren’t sleeping, Kai.” My father chimes in.

I shifted to face them and their faces contorted to a face of pain as the winced at my burst lip.

“Wh-a” my dad began. I wasn’t ready for this shit so I brushed him off by saying,

“I just hit myself during soccer... nothing important father. I already added some

Ointment mom, don’t worry. And ya, I’ll be more careful in the future.”

Both looked at each other suspiciously but brushed it off... blaming it on my clumsiness... but they were not fully having it.

“Also... could I get a new phone... I dropped it somewhere during soccer practice and couldn’t find it. I think someone stole it... they probably needed it more than me,” I finished, smiling a little to sell the lie. Boy I just wanted to hit someone hard. After both agreed to my proposal and needs, I kissed them both goodnight as they walked out of the room. I turned off the lights and sat in the room thinking of how easy it was to get a new gadget in less than 24 hours, and the newest version at that. I closed my eyes as they felt heavy and drifted off to sleep.
