Chapter 5

The days flew by as I learned the spells of the different elements and how to control the portal with immense speed. After half a year I exceeded all of the Partie members (when it comes to magic) and was promoted to SS ( I started out as a G-rank hunter when I joined the partie). Now I'm learning martial arts. This is much harder then I thought it would be, since I don't have any talent for it unlike for magic. Also, Akane, who is my best friend in this world is teaching me the ninja arts as well (I don't think it counts as martial arts). Also, I'm learning how to write and read in this world. There are 34 different languages and English is the international one. It surprises me that the languages are the same. After all, I am in another dimension. I smile, then think about the time I'm going to spend here. It's a beautiful place and I've come to like it. And soon I'm going to learn even more about it! I get nervous as I think about tomorrow. It's gonna be my first day hunting monsters outside the city. I smile as I remember my old school days. I was so weak and shy back then. Compared to this, the mobbing I've gone through was nothing! And the way I've changed, I don't think they'll be able to get to me anymore. Except for Neji, I guess. I sigh. No matter how strong I get, it won't help me solve this problem. I shake my head, trying not to think about it. Slowly I stand up and head over to the others. I think training might help me to get him out of my mind. I should read a few books about the dangers out there. I don't want to die on the quest after all.

It's two o'clock when we leave the city. Its my first time hunting! Even though I know almost everything about the world outside the city, Im nervous. ,, Shadow, are ya comin'?", Akiyama shouts. He and the others are standing at the city's entrance. I smile at them and nodd.

A few minutes later we stand in front of the city's doors, outside of the protecting barrier and Akiyama takes out the quests he picked. One was about catching a Scaled Sandworm (Rank A), the other two about collecting rare materials (one from a man eating Plant,A the other one from the Red-eyed Mantis Queen, S). ,, Which quest should we complete first?", he asks Kisho. The strategist thinks for a moment, then points at the plant-quest. ,, I think this would be our best choice since the materials from it are small and light. Also, it lives closer to the city then the other monsters. Next up, there would be the Scaled Sandworm. If we trap it and build up a magic circle it shouldn't be able to escape. It will wear itself down while we fight the Mantis Queen and won't put up much of a fight when we come back for it later." Akiyama nodds. He looks at the map for a while. Then he points at a forest to our right. ,, That's the direction we're goin'. It'll take bout 20 min. by foot. Off we go!" Akyama laughs as we set off, heading towards the woods.
