Strange

I went to school every 8am to 2pm.

Then usually mum came to pick me up. Some days when she was busy dad would send a car and our house maid, Nancy.

One day, it was 12th of March, I remember. Mum didn't come to pick me up.

I understood she was busy so I waited for Nancy.

It was 3pm already no body came.

My class teacher called them. They didn't answer.

she asked me if I wanted her to drop me home.

I was sure Nancy or mum would come. She wouldn't forget about me, right?

My eyes were filling up with tears when I saw my Dad's car approaching towards the school gate.

I was as happy as a person who found the mirage in the desert was reality.

Nancy came out of the car and I saw her rushing towards me.

I was expecting Mum or Dad but they might be busy.

I was about to scold Nancy, How could she forget about me when I saw her puffed up red eyes.

"Sorry Miss Jenny, sorry Master Dan." she apologized hurriedly as if there was some unfinished business.

"What is the matter Nancy? Why are you late. You have never been this late and why are your eyes so puffy and red?"

At this Nancy burst into tears.

"Is it something I said, Nancy. Why are you crying?" I was confused as hell.

I didn't know how to console her.

Something must have happened. But she wasn't telling anything she was just crying.

"Did dad or mum say something hurtful to you Nancy? I'll talk to them.

I'll tell them it wasn't your fault. You were busy in some thing I asked you to do so you were late to pick me up. Don't cry Nancy." I tried to make her stop crying. I thought this was the possible reason why she was crying.

She would have forgot about picking me up from school so dad would have scolded her. She might be scared to lose her job.

She still said nothing.

Soon we reached my home.

It felt good to be back home after school. But why was there so much crowd surrounding my house?

Was Dad giving some interview to the reporters? But they were never too many.

Nancy stopped me.

" Don't go in Master. I'll bring your stuff." Nancy said still crying.

I didn't understand her behaviour today. Why was she stopping me from entering my own house. Reporters weren't a problem. I could have gone from the back door. Why did she say she'd bring my stuff? Where was I going? Dad and mum told nothing about us going somewhere.

As Nancy left to bring some of my stuff, my curious mind just couldn't wait there and follow her orders.

I had to meet my mom and dad and ask them why was Nancy behaving so strangely today?

I dropped my bag and ran as quickly as I could towards the back door.
