The little one

"You can sleep on the bed, little one!" I said smiling to him as I moved to the couch.

"NO! "He said resolutely.

"I don't need so much space. The couch is comfortable enough for me.

Please don't argue or else I wouldn't be able to sleep."

"Okay", I agreed as I caressed his soft hair.

After he was properly dressed I could  notice, this boy was very handsome. He would grow up to be a total heart stealer. He had big blue eyes, beautiful features. Must have acquired them from his mom. His parents would be a dashing couple.

I was curious about him.

So I asked him,"Are you comfortable in answering me a few questions?"

He nodded in reply.

"So what is your name and how old are you to begin with?"

"Daniel" he replied "But mommy called me Dan and I liked being called Dan.

And I am 14. Whats yours?"

"Stella", I answered.

"Can I call you sister?" He asked eagerly.

"I'd love that, Dan"

"How did you reach there? Why were you left alone? Could you tell me your story?" I asked, too much curiosity filling me up!

"Okay. I'll tell you all about it. But first you gotta offer me something to eat and take me out tomorrow.

I will take you to my friends."

"Sure, I replied and took him to dinner in the hotel restaurant.

We ate and I told him that I was new here and I didn't know anything about this place.

He said he would show me around.

I know that boy has seen way too much. He is hiding so much pain beneath that smile.

And I thought my life was hard? Feel like hitting myself now.

How the **** can I be so stupid to think about  petty matters and be upset about it and when life is actually so traumatising for some people?

Lesson 8: Stop dwelling in the past.

There is so much to look forward to.

Start a new life. Stand up if you fall. You have one life. Don't lose hope and stop putting in efforts. Make it worthwhile.

Be happy in what you have. Cherish it. Some people don't have the things you don't even value.

I saw Dan sleeping peacefully. He might have that good sleep after a long time.

How did he reach the streets? Was he here since he was born? How would life be for him, living alone on the roadside,Homeless! No family! Where were his parents? Who leaves their kids in this cold world all alone,helpless?

And still this dreadful world with bullies to make it even harder.

With all these thoughts revolving in my head and thinking about the fact that I had to find a home for myself soon, I fell asleep.

The next morning I woke up. The sun shining bright on my face.

I looked for my phone to see the time.

It was 9am in the morning.

Thought of sleeping again when I remembered Dan.

I looked towards the couch. He wasn't there.

I got up checked the bathroom and everywhere. He wasn't in the room.

Where did Dan go?
