"Ah. It's almost time for my severe headache day ..er I mean my birthday."

A student in the sophomore year said before sitting on the edge of his bed in the room with plenty of decorations in it.

'I better prepare myself for the pain later.'

He stood up and walked in front of the wooden cabinet near his bed.

He crouched down and opened the cabinet.

Then he picked up a small and shabby old box in the corner.

He quickly stood back up again and sat on top of his bed cross-legged as he placed the box in front of him.

He swept away all the dirt and dust that was covering the box with his own hand to see the text written outside of the box.

"Haa~ Liam's heal box eh? You barely even healed me before you useless old box"

Liam carelessly flipped the box upside down to put all the things out of it.

All the things that fell down was a different kind of medicine pills for all the types of a headache.

The medicine pills have scattered all over the bed and some even went on the floor but he doesn't care less about it being messy.

"It is less than last year's."

He thought as he intently looked at the pills.

"The pain is increasing every year so is this enough? I think I can hold on to it. Although it's more painful, the time is just a minute or two right?"

Liam said inwardly while he was being swallowed by his nervousness.

"Yeah. It's gonna happen in just a minute and I'm gonna be safe if I can just hold. I would not die today... Probably..." Liam said reluctantly and let out a heavy sigh.

Liam tried to overcome the anxiety that was building up inside his heart by closing his eyes and began meditating to clear all the useless thoughts which were going through his mind.

Fortunately for him, in the past couple of years, he learned how to meditate by searching and reading countless articles about learning how to meditate and calm one's mind on the internet.

Liam was now as calm as a millpond.

Inside his mind, he feels like a feather dancing in the wind.

And like a knight who was ready to fight in a war, he prepared himself for the most painful thing that would happen to him later.

A cellphone rang and a message popped up in it that said "Hey, uh, Liam! It's me, Ian, can I go to sleep in your house my parents are out of town..."

Liam opened his eyes after he heard his cellphone rang just a second ago.

As soon as his eyes opened, he immediately lost all his focus and his calm self and mind were lost as well.

The meditating Liam has been disturbed and now the thought of bad things happening today crept into his mind.

His anxiety is starting to build inside his heart.

"F*ck!! I forgot to put my cellphone out of the room!" Liam is currently regretting his carelessness while finding something in a hurry.

"I had a gift for you so don't worry."

Liam read the message of his friend through his mind and started cursing.

"F*ck your gifts man!! Not now!" Liam quickly grabbed all the medicine pills he have and then he put it all into his mouth without thinking and caring about the side effect and the overdose of consuming many at the same pills.

'Shit! Shit!'

Liam was hurriedly digesting dozens of pills as he panicked, and continuous curses echoed throughout his mind as he wished for a miracle to happen.

He didn't know what to do anymore.

A sound rang through his mind and a text printed in a game-like window was suddenly floating in front of him.

『 The prerequisite condition has been met \[20 YRS OLD\]. New skills will be given to you by the Project X's System. Please wait. 』

"Eh? EHH?! Project X? W-What the Fu– What is going on?! Condition? It's the first time that something like this happened to me." Liam said with a confused expression carved all over his face.

'What is this? Is this for real? For the past few years, it's always have been a robotic female voice saying 'You will be given a random skill from the I-don't-know-what-was-it. Be prepared for the side effects' or something like that right?'

"What's this screen in front of me now?"

He didn't really believe it at first but when he recalled about the voice that suddenly resounded in his mind out of nowhere a few years ago, he thought that it was possible that the thing in front of him just now was somehow connected to it.

URK!

"F*ck! T-This is a shitty overdose!" Liam cursed as he remembered the bad effects of consuming dozens of pills.

'Haaah. It's getting hard to breathe!'

"Shit!!!!!! haah...haaah."

Liam stood up and walk inside the bathroom.

He quickly opened the tap and drink all the water that was pouring down from it.

Liam moved his head upward and looked into the mirror above the sink.

He saw himself in the mirror with an expression that of a dying man.

The overdose was still taking effect.

His skin was going pale and his breathing was starting to dissipate.

The thought about him dying today ran through his mind.

'I don't want to die right now!'

"haah..haah..." Liam felt like crying but only then did he recalled the memories of his birthday 5 years ago.

'Mom and Dad...'

Liam lost all the energy in his body and fell down on the floor. He clutched onto his right chest while his vision is turning pitch black and his breathing seemed to stop in a second because of the overdose effect...

But then...

A game-like window screen is floating in front of Liam's eyes once again.
